Family Development Program Assistant - Oriskany, NY

This position will serve as a member of the Family Development Team of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County. This Program Assistant will provide program coordination and support to the Family Development program. The individual will provide administrative support services such as, compiling existing materials into educational packets; maintaining inventory of educational resources; and providing administrative tasks for the program. This position will provide data entry of participant data requiring confidentiality. The Family Development Program Assistant will provide information to participants regarding other Extension programs, community agencies, and services as needed. Will appreciate and embrace diversity in all interactions with clientele, staff, volunteers, and the public.
Required Qualifications:
+ Associate Degree in Human Services or related field, High School Diploma/GED and one year transferrable program/functional experience can substitute for Associate’s Degree.
+ Experience relevant to the role of the position.
+ Working knowledge of Microsoft office programs such as Power Point, Publisher, Word, and Excel.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
+ Demonstrated ability to relate to diverse audiences.
+ Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
+ Ability to work in a busy office and prioritize work.
+ Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
+ Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Familiarity with NY State Office of Children and Family Services regulations.
Position Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Administrative Coordination/Operation – 95%
+ Maintain group email daily and forward emails to appropriate educators.
+ Provide excellent customer service and professional client communication in person, via telephone and through email and other correspondence.
+ Greet each walk-in client and determine need, refer to educator when needed.
+ Organize and maintain inventory of grant materials as well as educational resources and order when needed with supervisor approval.
+ Compile and prepare program receipts for payment and submit to supervisor
+ Complete all data entry in local data system (as applicable) and state data system (as applicable) as well as end of the month paperwork and quarterly reports as part of funder reporting requirements.
+ Assist with the organization and coordination of core program messaging activities (newsletters, etc.) and support the educators in their delivery of established program goals.
+ May provide input to support the implementation of mass media efforts for the Family Development program.
+ Ensure up to date blank copies of all paperwork are readily available.
+ Maintain confidentiality of information regarding program participants.
+ Assist in the coordination of identified administrative aspects of the Family Development Program including, but not limited to: mailing correspondence, maintaining files, etc. ensuring confidentiality of all information.
+ Assist with coordination, compilation, and organization of existing program resources and program materials including newsletters and mailings.
+ Perform general coordination activities including but not limited to attending staff meetings, timely reporting of expenses, working with other staff and general marketing of Extension programs.
+ Assist educators in maintaining communication with childcare providers, parents, and the community through a variety of methods such as newsletters, e-mails, electronic technology, internet, social media, website postings, and content.
+ Assist in community and agency events when needed and directed by supervisor.
Professional Improvement – 5%
+ In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.
+ Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.
Health and Safety – Applied to all duties and functions
+ Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.
+ Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.
+ Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.

Position Details
This is a full-time, benefits eligible, non-exempt position (37.5hrs/week). The hourly rate for this position is $19.00.
