The Position:

Summit Search Group has been retained by a local Winnipeg Law Firm on the recruitment of a new Family Lawyer. Located in either Winnipeg, Morden, or Winkler, our client is looking to expand their law firm. As a Family Lawyer, you will provide expert advice and representation in a variety of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, spousal support, and property division. As a Family Lawyer, you will guide clients through emotionally challenging situations with professionalism, sensitivity, and legal expertise. You will be responsible for handling complex cases, negotiating settlements, and representing clients in court when necessary. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, a deep understanding of family law, and a commitment to achieving favourable outcomes for clients while prioritizing their well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide legal counsel and representation in family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, and property division. Draft, review, and file legal documents such as motions, pleadings, and agreements. Conduct legal research and stay updated on changes in family law legislation and precedents. Advocate for clients in court hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations. Develop personalized legal strategies to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients. Guide clients through emotionally challenging situations with empathy and professionalism. Collaborate with legal assistants, paralegals, and other team members to prepare for cases. Negotiate and draft prenuptial, postnuptial, and separation agreements. Maintain detailed and organized client files, including documentation of case developments and communications.

Qualifications:

Practicing member in good standing with The Law Society of Manitoba and proficiency practicing law. 5+ years’ experience in Family Law with a track record of handling divorce, custody, and support cases. Strong negotiation, litigation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate emotionally charged situations with professionalism and empathy.
