Job Summary:
Responsible for providing appropriate non-surgical primary and continuing care to patients. Physician performs assigned duties while displaying the highest standards of ethical and moral conduct as well as acting in the best interest of Aultman Medical Group (AMG), supporting AMG’s mission, vision, and values to optimize the health and well-being of AMG’s patients.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Examines patients, obtains medical histories, and treats acute and chronic illnesses in outpatient and inpatient settings (as applicable). Orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic tests. Involves patients and their families in care and treatment decisions. Collaborates on improvements in care delivery and service with staff, other physicians, and management. Initiates appropriate specialty referrals, working with AMG resources to ensure continuity of care for patients. In PCMH settings, works in conjunction with Care Delivery team for certain patient groups or for specific conditions such as diabetes, smoking cessation, etc. Provides clinical information to the interdisciplinary team in a clear and timely manner. Ensures that proper patient documentation is timely, accurate, and complete in accordance with AMG policy. Works with practice management to ensure proper compliance with billing, coding, and CPT code assignment. Achieves and maintains optimal patient access. Provides interdepartmental medical consultation as requested. Participates in the development of medical protocols, standard procedures, and management of patient-care-related activities. Provides on-call coverage as assigned or agreed to; when on call, responds in a timely fashion. Gives feedback to and accepts feedback from all staff in a respectful manner. Acts in a positive and professional manner, complying with practice policies, procedures, and federal and state laws. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Other Job Responsibilities:
Works effectively with Advanced Practice Providers, providing supervision and oversight as needed and agreed upon. Promotes health education in conjunction with other health professionals. Efficiently uses group practice and healthcare resources. Contributes to quality improvement activities by actively participating in medical staff activities, serving on various committees, including Integrated Health Care Collaborative initiatives, and suggesting and supporting process improvements.
Education/Certification/Licensing Requirements:
Degree of M.D. or D.O. with ABIM-recognized internal medicine residency, AOA-recognized internal medicine residency, ABFM-recognized family medicine residency, or AOA-recognized family medicine residency Valid and active board certification, or board eligibility per medical staff bylaws, in appropriate specialty area and renewed (as needed) prior to expiration Valid and unrestricted Ohio medical license Valid DEA registration and Controlled Substance Certificate BLS certification (as required) ACLS certification for hospital and LTC facility work (as required)
Additional Requirements:
Continuing medical education (CME) as required Maintains other education as required by AMG
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of and ability to apply professional primary care medicine principles, procedures, and techniques. Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment. Ability to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality patient care. Ability to receive detailed information and express and exchange ideas orally. Ability to perform under stress.
Possesses excellent written and oral communication, listening, and social skills.
