RESPONSIBILITIES
Molokai General Hospital (MGH) is a 15-bed rural health care facility with a Critical Access Hospital designation. It provides the only emergency room for the residents and visitors on the island of Molokai. MGH became a part of The Queen’s Health Systems in 1987 and provides acute care, inpatient hospice, skilled nursing, and low-risk obstetrical services. It also offers primary care in a rural health clinic, chemotherapy, limited specialty procedures, diabetes management, family planning, physical therapy (including aquatic therapy), veteran’s services and chronic disease navigation services.

I. JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible to the President of Molokai General Hospital (MGH) and collaborates with the MGH physician leadership.
• Provides family medicine services for patients of the Paul G. Stevens, M.D. Outpatient Clinic (“clinic”), through direct patient care and at the discretion of the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine, Department of Medicine, through teaching and supervision of students and residents from the John A. Burns School of Medicine and assigned residents from other programs.
II. TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Seeing, hearing, speaking, finger dexterity, walking.
• Frequent: standing, sitting, stooping/bending, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods, frequent gripping of an object.
• Occasional: twisting body, climbing stairs, walking on uneven ground, lifting and carrying usual weight of 1 pound up to 5 pounds, reaching above, at, and below shoulder level, repetitive arm/hand motions.
III. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• Exposure to hazardous chemicals and infectious agents is an occupational risk; therefore, standard safety regulations must be maintained to avoid contamination.
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Graduate of an accredited School of Medicine or EC FMG certification.
• Board Certified or board qualified in Family Medicine or Emergency Medicine.
• Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Hawaii.
B. EXPERIENCE:
• During period of employment, shall be and remain a member of the MGH medical staff in good standing with appropriate privileges without restriction.
• One year post residency experience preferred.
• Experience in a community health center environment preferred.
