FAMILY PROGRAM ASSISTANT (TITLE 32)
Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a FAMILY PROGRAM ASSISTANT (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1744000 and is part of the IL MILPO, National Guard. Responsibilities As a FAMILY PROGRAM ASSISTANT (TITLE 32), GS-0303-7, you will provide support in the administration of Family Program services for the National Guard and Reserve members and their families within the state by performing assignments designed to provide familiarity with the Family Program, community services, effective relations with supporting social service and emergency organizations, and the development of human resources program referral networks. Major Duties - This is NOT an all-inclusive list: Serve as an assistant in accomplishing all objectives of the Family Program. Support staff assistance visits to ensure that policies conform with guidance to staff and units. Assist in designing and conducting needs assessments of family members to identify program requirements. Identify issues affecting the quality of family life and provides recommendations to supervisor of activities and policies requiring modification. Coordinate and facilitate communications between family members and the National Guard to include the use of web pages, mobile applications, and social media. Prepare information for entitlements, schedules of events, missions, roles, and functions of the National Guard. Interface with units and family members and gathers information concerning family activities. Compile information, publish, and disseminate information via web pages, mobile applications, and social media. Provide direct support to and supervision of youth in structured enrichment program or similar environment. Support volunteers to work with the Family Readiness Groups (FRGs), and to instruct and train units, soldiers, and their families. Plans and coordinates workshops, training classes, and seminars as appropriate. Work with others to maintain a system of documenting volunteer services and a library of resource materials concerning volunteerism and provides materials to volunteers as needed. Requirements Conditions of Employment This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the Illinois National Guard and in the military grade listed in the announcement. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. If an Optional Form (OF) 306, Declaration of Employment is submitted prior to the point of a conditional offer, questions related to background information section may not be asked. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. Qualifications AREA OF CONSIDERATION: The areas of considerations for this position, Title 32 Excepted Service (32 U.S. Code ยง 709), will be in the following manner and sequence, The FIRST area of consideration for this position will be all excepted permanent and indefinite temporary technicians within the ILNG. The SECOND area of consideration will be all current Federal Employees. The THIRD area of consideration will be all Federal re-employment eligible. The FOURTH area of consideration will be applicants willing to become T32 Dual Status Technicians and gain ILNG membership. The FIFTH area of consideration will U.S. Citizens. Military Grades: Enlisted - Minimum Rank E1 - Maximum Rank E9 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: MUST possess experience, education, or training involving responsibly performing clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the lower grade level in the Federal service in order to be considered for this position. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: GS-7 Level MUST possess at least 1 year equivalent to the next lower grade; experience conducting needs assessments for family programs; coordinating volunteers; recommending activities and polices; maintain and research resources to assist family life. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
