The Farm Equipment Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing farming machinery and equipment to ensure they operate efficiently. This includes diagnosing mechanical issues, performing routine maintenance, and providing repairs as needed. The technician will work with a wide range of equipment, from tractors and harvesters to irrigation systems and plows.

Responsibilities:

Use diagnostic tools, computer systems, and manuals to troubleshoot issues with engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and other components. Test equipment after repairs to ensure functionality and safety.
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (oil changes, filter replacements, tire checks, etc.) on all types of farm machinery. Repair and replace broken or worn-out parts such as engines, transmission systems, belts, hoses, and electrical systems.
Perform welding, soldering, or fabrication as needed for repairs. Install new equipment, machinery, or attachments to ensure proper function.
Set up and calibrate equipment for seasonal use, such as planting or harvesting machines. Order and maintain an inventory of parts and supplies needed for repairs and maintenance. Work with suppliers to ensure the availability of high-quality, cost effective parts.
Keep accurate records of maintenance schedules, repairs, parts used, and labor hours. Maintain service logs for each piece of equipment to track maintenance history and performance. Advise farm operators or managers on proper equipment usage and maintenance practices. Follow all safety protocols and regulations when operating and repairing equipment. Ensure that all repaired equipment meets safety standards and is ready for use.

Requirements:

2-year technical degree or high school diploma/GED and several years of comparable shop mechanic experience 2+ years of relevant diesel equipment repair experience preferred Previous experience with AGCO, CLAAS or Versatile products is a plus but not required Personal attributes: attention to detail, efficiency, problem solving, planning and organization, team player Written and verbal communication skills Basic computer skills Own mechanic tool set Ability to maintain safe and clean work environment For more information, call or stop by our office today.
