The facility is located three miles outside of Northeast Nebraska's busiest community. Bloomfield is a haven for those who prefer small-town life over city living and is located less than 30 miles from recreation areas where you can enjoy fishing, boating, kayaking and camping. Our location produces liquid egg product that is sent to our other facilities for further processing. POSITION SUMMARY: Farm Intern will focus on the day-to-day operations of the farm management and the care of the birds while working on assigned projects. This intern will have a lot of independent work under Farm Management. Qualifications DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Farm Intern’s duties will include: Perform day to day animal caretaker duties of a layer farm. Understanding the different production systems. Understanding and demonstrating basic bird care, handling, and wellbeing. Participating in at least one research type project Support management as needed. Other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Current or recent enrollment in an undergraduate degree program with an interest and aptitude to work in the poultry production. Preferred enrollment in the Midwest Poultry Consortium Center of Excellence program.
