Pineland Farms is one of the largest food manufacturing organizations located in Aroostook County. Our Mars Hill facility has over 200 incredible team members who work together to provide our customers with the best possible potato product. Responsibilities JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for the daily supervising and operating of equipment, ensuring only the highest quality crop is being produced. This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: • Responsible for setting up, inspecting, and cleaning, if applicable, to ensure farm equipment reliability. • Prepare, maintain, and thoroughly complete all safety, quality, and farm documentation. • Verify crew members trained to complete assignments to OSHA requirements. • Feedback to management regarding possible safety issues, accident potentials. • Initiate incident/accident reports. • Implement corrective actions to fix deficiencies. • Potato handling, transferring, and retrieving potatoes from one location to another while meeting production efficiency. • Troubleshoot equipment that is not running effectively. • Maintain cross-functional interaction with other Farm Manager, maintenance technicians and other employees regarding any production requirements or issues that may arise. • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks. Take personal responsibility to ensure a safe and healthy workplace for yourself and other employees. • Adhere to Quality work practices, follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that crop quality is maintained. Ensure that all policies, procedures, and activities related to Food Safety and Quality are followed and complied with, in effort to reduce crop losses. • Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends when required • Ability to embrace change productively and to handle other tasks as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: Reporting to the incumbent are approximately 2 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. In the absence of the Farm Manager the Farm Supervisor has been identified as the designated back up. Qualifications Knowledge: • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. • Basic diesel mechanical knowledge required. • Repair knowledge for potato equipment • Knowledge for pm maintenance on trucks tractors and implements • Requires a good understanding of hydraulic/pneumatic equipment. • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. • Ability to effectively present information one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization. • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide with the use of a calculator. • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. • Ability to prioritize and follow directions with little/no supervision. • Must have ability to do multi-functional tasks. Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends when required. • Bi-lingual (Spanish-English) is a plus. EDUCATION AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED: • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Associates Degree preferred. • Must have 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination or education and experience. • Current Chemical Handling License or Willing to obtain. Must be able to lift weights ranging from 10 to more than 100 pounds under 1/3 of the time. Work Environment: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position will be exposed to work in high, precarious place, and outdoor weather conditions under 1/3 of the time. Will work near moving mechanical parts over 2/3 of the time.
