Career and Technical Education Teacher-(Workforce/Career development) – 70047650
This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Polk Correctional Institution in the Education Department.
Salary: $51,500.19 Annually
SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Plans, develops, and conducts, classes in the assigned subject(s).
+ Utilizes various teaching techniques and activities to assist students with their educational advancement.
+ Responsible for the supervision of inmates assigned to the class.
+ Conducts roll calls, counts, and maintaining attendance records.
+ Ensures that order and discipline, tool control, and safety are maintained in the classroom and/or shop.
+ Continually evaluates students and makes determination as to overall progress.
+ Administers grades and evaluates tests.
+ Counsels and advises individuals regarding their program progress, behavior or personal concern.
+ Participates in staff meetings, seminars, and workshops to identify needed curriculum changes and to facilitate professional development.
+ Assists in budget preparation and processing purchase requests for the education program.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Please note, when submitting a college/university degree, if selected for this position official transcripts will be required.
+ A high school diploma or its equivalentandthree (3) years’ experience in Workforce/Career development (skills in digital literacy; emotional intelligence; communication skills; adaptability; problem solving; critical thinking; leadership; teamwork and cooperation; time management and organization ect.) being taught;or
+ Possession of current licensure or certification(s) in the vocation being taught or a postsecondary certificate of completion (must submit transcript/certificate of completion) may substitute for up to one (1) year of the required experience.
+ Must hold the aplicable subject area liscense or industry certification or be willing to posess within 12 months of hire.
+ Possess or be eligible to apply for a Temporary Florida Department of Corrections Educator’s Certificate or if applicable a temporary State of Florida Educator's Certificate.
+ SPECIAL NOTE: Non-certified applicants must possess a State of Florida Educators Certificate or a Florida School District/Florida Department of Corrections issued educators certificate in the vocational area within 12 months of hire. A Department of Corrections Educator’s Professional Certificate must be obtained in the vocational area prior to the expiration of the Temporary Certificate.
