Federal Affairs Specialist
**Description:** Responsible for logistical functions of Valero’s Political Action Committee (PAC) federal disbursements, Valero Washington D.C. office event planning, and office operations for the Valero Federal Affairs team. Extensive contact with internal personnel as well as individuals, elected officials, fundraisers, and other industry government affairs staff. * Maintains the budget and coordinates logistics for Valero’s Political Action Committee (PAC) federal disbursements, facilitates D.C. office political events, serves as the liaison with vendors on all related matters, and corresponds with participants regarding logistics, deadlines, etc., to ensure successful events. * Oversees all office operations, including onsite meetings, travel, expenses, fundraisers, and other administrative duties. * Arranges additional special events, meetings, fundraisers, travel for guests visiting DC from headquarters or other associates. * Serves as the first point of contact for the DC office and handles the daily responsibilities of office management. * Participates with the federal affairs team with all third-party engagement, including political groups and trade associations. * Interfaces with corporate headquarters and senior executives’ offices in a friendly and efficient manner. * Balances competing priorities and manages both the day-to-day operations and supports the longer-range goals of the office and the division to which the government relations operations reports, including assisting with production of federal lobbying disclosures. * Screens requests for time, posts corporate meetings, and initiates review processes for invitations to internal and external events. * Collects and processes all event fees, distributes payments to contractors, and reviews and submits all event billing for approval. * This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.** *Location: Valero Washington D.C. Office * **Qualifications:** * Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Political Science, Public Administration, Communications, or related field, required. * 5 years of experience in the area of government relations, working in state or federal government, fundraising, lobbying, or related work experience, required. * Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero Washington D.C. location, required. * Experience in managing administrative duties of a political action committee, preferred. * Previous experience working in Congress, fundraising, or the Administration, preferred. All successful candidates must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
