Job Summary
\nPartners with Feed Mills and various other divisions of Live Operations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and quality control protocols. Maintains, tracks, and reviews documents and conducts audits to ensure all feed mills and related functions are adhering to all applicable regulations and internal requirements, including but not limited to: FDA Food Safety, USDA Process Verified, Butterball No Antibiotics Ever (Antibiotic Free), Butterball Food Safety Plans and Quality Assurance Manuals, and Animal Care and Wellbeing requirements.
\nKey Responsibilities
\n· Maintain and update Animal Food Safety Plans for all Butterball Feed Mills in North Carolina and Mid-west locations.
\n· Stay abreast of relevant regulatory updates and implement policies as necessary and applicable.
\n· Conducts annual internal Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) audits, at each Feed Mill. Partners with Feed Mill managers to address action items from annual audits to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
\n· Maintains and reviews all routine documentation for FDA FSMA compliance. This includes Mycotoxin results, mixer profile results, medicated feed assay results, and team member training records.
\n· Leads (NC Facilities) and/or assists (Midwest facilities) during FDA Inspections at the Feed Mills.
\n· Works with Feed Mill managers to annually train all team members on topics related to Animal Food Safety Compliance.
\n· Oversees Feed Mill compliance with Butterball’s Antibiotic Free (ABF) and Process Verified Programs (PVP).
\n· Registers commercial feeds and manages State Feed Licenses with each State Department of Agriculture where Butterball manufactures and/or distributes feed (NC, KS, AR, MO).
\n· Coordinates and assists with semi-annual internal GIPSA audits in April and October of each year.
\nMinimum Qualifications
\n· Four-year degree in Animal Science, Biology or Life Science related field preferred and/ or previous work experience.
\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
\n· Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
\n· Excellent written English skills
\n· Ability to communicate verbally and written.
\n· Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
\n· Ability to compile reports and presentations and effectively present information to top management, public groups and customers
\n· Computer skills, including proficient level Microsoft Excel, word, and power point
\nPreferred Qualifications or KSAs
\n· 5 years of relevant Poultry Industry and/or Feed Mill industry experience preferred
\nPhysical Demands
\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, keyboard, and occasionally lift up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
\nWork Environment
\nWork is generally performed in a climate-controlled office environment, with routine visits to the manufacturing areas within the feed mills.
\nTravel Requirements
\nOccasional local travel (Eastern NC) and semi-annual travel to Mid-west Live Operations.
