Feed Mill Supervisor

Summary

This person directly supervises and leads the facility and associate in activities to meet daily production needs in a safe and efficient manner. They maintain high quality standards through leadership while staying within company guidelines and adhering to all local, state, and federal laws. Supervises the feed production and delivery operations. Services our customers on time and ensures them of a quality production. 

 

The salary range for this position is $78,000 - $82,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications with annual bonus available (variable depending on performance)

Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities Coordinate production, distribution, and warehousing of feed Schedule and monitor daily production including running ton totals, ordering product, and scheduling production Oversee the feed production from receiving ingredients through field placement service Ensure that the feed produced meets nutritional guidelines Inventory feed and deliver as scheduled Oversee the maintenance and housekeeping of the feedmill with a preventative maintenance program Develop and oversee plans for efficient use of materials, machines, and human resources Review production costs and product quality Modify production and inventory control programs as needed Develop operating schedules, work and downtime schedules, and conducts parts inventory Establish goals and project plans; provide budget administration Compile and analyze production reports Review and monitor permit processes for air quality, mound, and rainwater runoff Prepare and monitor annual budget in accordance to Company guidelines Interpret and communicate statistical findings to management team members Comply and follow company requirements regarding biosecurity, food safety and poultry welfare programs and policies  Communicate daily with customers and inter-company personnel.  Always maintain a clean and safe work area Participate in company and department safety program Comply with company policies and procedures Adhere to all safety rules including PPE, preventing, and reporting unsafe acts and conditions, Lockout-Tagout procedures and Process Safety Management related matters

 

Minimum Education High school diploma or equivalent Experience Requirements 1 - 3 years related experience of Feed Mill or Poultry related management experience Proficient in Excel and Word Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures Ability to read and write reports and procedure manuals Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions and percentages Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements Ability to use hands to feel objects, tools, and controls Ability to lift, push or pull up to 10-pound boxes and materials regularly Ability to regularly stand, walk, and climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl Ability to climb staircases and ladders up to 120 feet

Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements

Must be able to swing a 15 lb. sledgehammer Exposure to all seasonal weather conditions Exposure to significant amounts of air borne dust Exposure to sustained noise levels > 85 db. Must wear and use protective and safety equipment for the job as directed by the company Must be able to climb heights to 120 feet Must be able to operate a forklift Must use required protection when maneuvering on feed truck or rail cars Must have close and distance vision and ability to distinguish colors
