Fellow, Administrative Fellowship Program

Position Summary: The position is part of an Administrative Fellowship program which will place the Fellow in numerous situations, projects and positions throughout the program time period. The Fellow will responsible for learning the healthcare industry, Gila River Health Care and the numerous divisions and positions within GRHC in order to be a leader in the organization. A Fellow will be responsible for one’s learning and conduct and will be placed in supervisory and management roles with increasing responsibility. The number of direct and indirect reports will vary.

Critical Tasks: 

Participates or leads projects and work assignments across departments.Demonstrate attention to detail, consistency and meets multiple deadlines in a timely manner.Work effectively both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.Act as a self-starter and demonstrate a willingness to take on new and challenging leadership roles, as well as non-leadership projects and deliverables.Attends leadership meetings, as directed, allowing for strong personal and leadership growth opportunities.Based upon assigned projects, establishes goals or priorities and extracts, analyzes and presents data or information.Plans and coordinates meetings. Follows through on action items. Evaluates outcomes and assists in change management, as appropriate.Communicates project or initiative progress to leadership personnel in a variety of formats.Problem solves project delays, lack of resources, communication issues, etc. Implements corrective action or remedial solutions.Manages potential conflict situations utilizing effective communication skills to maximize interpersonal relationships.Facilitates continuous process improvement; always examining ways to enhance organizational effectiveness.Actively pursues mentoring relationships with preceptor, mentor and other leaders, physicians and staff.Ability to utilize effective communication and problem solving skills to efficiently identify issues, concerns and interests and provide effective solutions.
Diplomacy, tact and professionalism are the utmost importance since the Fellow deals with personnel on all levels, both inside and outside GRHC.Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively.Modeling expected behaviors which reflect an appreciation of, and respect for, employees’ and patients’ differences and how important each relationship is to GRHC operations.Strictly maintains confidentiality of all GRHC patient, employee and vendor information.Complying with the policies and procedures of GRHC.Upholds the vision, mission and values of GRHC.Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications: 

Gila River Indian Community Member enrollment required; Master’s Degree in Healthcare Administration, Masters of Business Administration , or closely related field required; A minimum of three (3) years fulltime recent healthcare managerial experience (e.g. acute care or critical access hospital, or equivalent experience) highly desirableA minimum of three (3) years directly supervising or managing a department of ten or more employees; (Preferred), if candidate does not possess this experience, will be offered as part of the fellowship program.Exhibit high level of organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills;Ability to summarize and clearly communicate ideas and processes, both orally and in writing;Ability to plan and oversee the implementation of short-term and long-term projects;Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills in order to work effectively with a variety of medical management, and staff;Have an understanding of health care delivery systems and economics.
