Working at IFF is an opportunity to grow professionally by developing your career and supporting meaningful change; so that together, we will #DoMoreGood for people and our planet.We are seeking a Fermentation Ops Manager responsible for managing a small team within the 14L Fermentation area, 14L Vessel Operation, Weekend Shift Coverage, if necessary, to provide support to staff, maintain area documentation, lead the training of all new staff members, and the ability and willingness to learn and assist with auxiliary equipment within the 14L fermentation space.
Responsibilities:
The primary roles of this position in our Fermentation lab is the management and career development of members of the 14L staff, and operating and troubleshooting our 14L fermenters and auxiliary equipment.
Daily tasks will include communicating with staff members on daily operations, communication with engineers utilizing the facility, ability to run and train on fermentation equipment and near-line analytical instruments, troubleshooting equipment and operational issues, maintaining facility documentation.
The 14L Fermentation Team works Monday-Sunday between three shifts (morning, afternoon, and weekend) to support the 24/7 Fermentation Facility. For this role we are looking for a candidate who will be available to call into the weekend shift one day (Saturday or Sunday) to ensure successful operations and be available to provide on-site support if needed.
Continuous operations and shift work require a successful candidate to communicate well and effectively both face to face, and across electronic tools.
Safety isn’t just a goal, it’s a culture. The successful candidate will be experienced with generating SOPs, performing safety evaluations of new processes and equipment, effectively utilizing personal protective equipment, able to lift 50lbs and pass a respirator fit test (pulmonary function test).
Qualifications:
Education:BS/BA degree in Biology, Chemistry, or other physical science discipline with experience in lab or biomanufacturing settings.Associates degree w/ 3+ years of experience in lab or manufacturing settings.HS Diploma w/5+ years lab/manufacturing experience.Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams across multiple projects.Willing and able to make, lift, and deliver maximal 50 lbs of materials to the facility and other labs with or without reasonable accommodations.Preferred Experience:
