We are seeking a Fermentation Technician II for our 2nd shift responsible (Sunday to Thursday) for executing experiments with micro-organisms in benchtop fermentation systems at 200 mL and 2L scales.

Responsibilities:

The primary role of the Fermentation Technician in our R&D lab is the execution of lab scale experiments to support manufacturing scale operations.  Daily tasks will include preparing seed flasks, monitoring/controlling fermentation equipment via a SCADA system, processing samples for near-line analysis, and cleaning/maintaining bioreactors (and supporting equipment) in the facility. 

Our lab operates continuously 24/7 and our team is organized into two shifts; this position is specifically for our 2nd shift (Sunday – Thursday). 

Continuous operations and shift work require a successful candidate to communicate well and effectively both face to face, and across electronic tools.  We utilize video conferencing to get real time input from engineers, and cloud based paperless documentation for both experimental records and cross shift communication. 

Safety isn’t just a goal, it’s a culture.  The successful candidate will be experienced with reading and following SOPs, effectively utilizing personal protective equipment, able to lift 50lbs and pass a respirator fit test (pulmonary function test).   

Qualifications:

Education: BS/BA degree in Biology, Chemistry, Chemical/Biological Engineering or other physical science discipline

       Associates degree with experience in lab or manufacturing settings. 

 Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams across multiple projects.Willing and able to make, lift, and deliver maximal 50 lbs of materials to the facility and other labs with or without reasonable accommodationsWilling and able to work Sunday - Thursday shift.

Preferred Experience:

2+ years of microbiology, cell culture or2+ years commercial brewing experience orProficient in Microsoft Suite applicationsAwareness of working with chemicals and hazardous operationsMechanically inclined
