Fiber Design Engineer
Title: Fiber Design Engineer Location: Milwaukee, WI or Detroit, MI   Position Summary:   Are you a highly technical and experienced Fiber Design Engineer with hands-on experience in splicing and fiber connectivity design? Have you utilized mapping and fiber management systems like 3-GIS, Arc GIS or OSP Insight?  Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment that includes construction and trouble management responsibilities for all aspects of physical fiber optic plant? If so, you may be the perfect candidate for the position of Fiber Design Engineer at Everstream!   Primary Responsibilities: Single point of contact for all splicing design and troubleshooting Maintain accurate network connectivity data utilizing 3GIS and Salesforce Develop accurate Splice documentation in order to turn up new customers. Develop accurate Method of Procedure (MOP) documentation on any fiber related maintenance events. Perform oversight on fiber optic testing in relation to accepting newly installed plant or trouble repairs. Analyze test results from OTDR, CD/PMD, ORL and Power Meter, and/or other similar Test Sets Use of the following: Salesforce, Adobe, EXPO Fast Reporter, Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio,CAD, and Google Earth Software   Requirements: 2+ years installing/troubleshooting/designing Fiber Optic and Ethernet Physical transport in a service provider environment 2+ years testing QCing and delivering high speed telecom services using test units such as OTDR, Fusion Splicer, Power Meter, and other Fiber Optic test Sets 2+ years directly managing inside and outside plant construction projects, capital budgets, and contractors Proficiency using mapping and fiber management software i.e. Arc GIS, 3-GIS, QGIS, Google Earth Proficiency using Microsoft WORD & Excel, Visio and CAD software     Preferred Qualifications: 5+ years of fusion splicing experience 2+  years of previous experience in fiber design with fiber management software such as Arc GIS, OSP insight, or 3 GIS Degree in GIS or FOT certification Experience in managing the fiber design aspect of larger projects   Physical Requirements: Ability to work in office 3 days a week   Benefits:   Everstream offers competitive compensation as well as a generous employee benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance policies.
