Job Title: Fiber Designer
Job Description
We are seeking an OSP Designer to join our team, providing professional, engineering, and technical services to the telecommunications and power delivery markets. Our services include Communications Design Services, Energy Distribution Services, Utility Pole Inspection, and Environmental Services. In this role, you will support our fiber to the home group by interpreting customer-provided route proposals and incorporating them into OSP design. You will also acquire and utilize field data, import collected data into OSP design, and determine ROW locations.
Responsibilities
+ Interpret customer-provided route proposals and incorporate them into OSP design.
+ Acquire field data to be used in OSP design and import collected data into OSP design.
+ Associate collected features to correct design features within AutoCAD.
+ Determine ROW locations.
+ Determine the correct customer template for construction and permitting drawings.
+ Determine construction unit descriptions with minimal direction.
+ Complete the design of OSP projects (aerial, buried, and underground) using AutoCAD, Adobe, GIS, and Excel with minimal direction.
+ Complete construction unit and material summaries with minimal direction.
+ Complete ROW permitting and submittal as needed on behalf of the facility owner.
+ Confirm all deliverable documents are complete at project handoff with minimal direction.
+ Attend site walks, pre-con meetings, and follow-up calls.
+ Possible travel, including overnight travel.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in AutoCAD, GIS, and Microsoft Suite software.
+ Ability to critically think and solve problems.
+ 1-2 years of related OSP Telecom experience preferred.
+ Strong understanding of CAD basic features (2023).
+ Experience with GIS.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with ArcPro is a plus.
+ Ability to work with Adobe or drafting software.
Work Environment
This position will be in-office 100% until training is completed, then it may transition to 100% remote, hybrid, or remain in-office in Madison. The role involves taking data procured from the field (utility pole heights, pictures, dimensions, measurements) and inputting it into various programs to build a 3D model. This model determines whether new fiber can be attached to existing poles or if modifications or replacements are needed. The company offers a flexible, employee-friendly work environment with opportunities for growth and advancement, including roles such as associate, level I or II, specialist, designer, permit coordinator, project manager, or team manager. There is a strong backlog of multi-year rural broadband/fiber expansion work, providing stable employment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00
