South Central Power Company, Ohio’s largest electric cooperative, is seeking an individual to fill the position of Fiber Network System Administrator at our Lancaster office. We’re bringing fiber internet to rural communities that are currently unserved or underserved when it comes to digital connectivity. To get there, we need a Network Systems Administrator. The successful candidate will be responsible for recommending, installing, configuring, and maintaining equipment essential for delivery of high-quality broadband services throughout connectSCPs footprint. We are looking for an experienced individual who is self-motivated, with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with internal departments and employees, and vendors. In addition, they’ll perform system and network inspections, utilize network monitoring software tools to investigate and resolve network quality and reliability issues. Create, and edit network drawings and documentation. As well as installing and labeling cables as needed and serve as a contact for other employees regarding technical knowledge and software usage and network and system issues. The selected candidate will be well versed in using technologies as they relate to the position. This position reports directly to our Network Engineering Manager. What the job requires… + Five - seven years of experience and demonstrated proficiency in a broad range of computing technologies, enterprise systems management, enterprise network management and application of technology solutions. Attainment through a Bachelor’s degree in computer systems and network systems or computer information systems in lieu of experience may be accepted. + Must maintain valid drivers' license and good driving record. + Competency in: + administration of Linux machines. + architecture and maintenance of complex service providers, enterprise networks, and data centers.
