The role:
Fugro is seeking a Geotechnical Field and Core Logging Engineer to join our dynamic team. This is an exceptional opportunity to work on global site characterisation and engineering projects. You will perform offshore site investigations, core logging, and testing, and prepare data for both offshore and onshore deliverables and factual reports. This role offers the chance to travel internationally and work offshore for several weeks each year, conducting in situ and offshore laboratory testing, as well as collecting, processing, and analysing soil and rock samples.
You will have the exposure to a wide variety of geotechnical projects on a global scale and be part of the world’s leading geo-data company, you will have the opportunity for excellent learning and development opportunities and work with the latest cutting-edge technology.
You will collaborate with engineers in the office, core logging facilities, and offshore. Additionally, you will work alongside staff from various departments, including laboratory, project management, quality, health, safety, and commercial.
Your responsibilities will be:
Process soil and rock samples in accordance with Fugro procedures;Logging of soil and rock samples to relevant standard (e.g. BS5930, Eurocode 7 or ISO);Perform basic soil and/or rock description and soil testing;Accurate and complete recording data onto recording forms;Process and interpret in situ data;Accurate and complete recording data onto recording forms;Data processing and entry into spreadsheets and in-house programs;Calculation of test results using a calculator or simple spreadsheet;Check and correct data entered and processed by others;QA/QC collected data and results;Produce or assist in the production of project deliverables and/or reports.Recognise and adhere to the company’s QHSE policies and procedures.Who we’re looking for:
A degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent.
Proficiency in using spreadsheets and plotting software.
Ability to foster a safe and quality-based culture within the offshore and onshore team.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
A good team player capable of forming working relationships with clients and colleagues at all levels.
