Field Application Engineer Intern
Overview We are seeking a full-time Field Application Engineer Intern in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the FAE team in supporting Marine and Recreational Vehicle (RV) Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) customers and assuring the successful integration of Garmin equipment into their vehicles and vessels. Essential Functions Assist FAE team members with projects related to digital control systems, Garmin camera systems, and new third party system integration Learn to install, set up, configure, and test Garmin OEM systems for customers’ Marine and Recreational Vehicle devices Assist FAE team in assessing electrical system needs, developing wiring and automation schematics, and implementing custom interfaces as needed Apply design standards and procedures to implement any vessel or vehicle solutions Partner with Field Service Engineers and Sales staff to service accounts, analyze customer requirements, and suggest system solutions Identify and resolve defects as required, escalating issues if needed to engineering team Communicate status of work clearly providing visibility to manager/mentor and thoroughly document work in an organized manner Basic Qualifications Completed coursework in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills Must be positive, detail oriented, organized, team oriented and a driven problem solver with success in solving difficult problems, multi-tasker, and self-starter with the ability to prioritize and manage time in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment with excellent follow-up skills Desired Qualifications Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5) Demonstrated presentation skills Previous experience in RV or Marine electrical design Experience with software programming and UI/graphics development Garmin International is an equal opportunity employer.
