Field Biologist – Boise, ID

The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is adding Field Biologists to join our team. The Field Biologist(s) will typically work as part of two-to-four-person field crews conducting a variety of field surveys including but not limited to rare plants, noxious weeds, wildlife, wetlands, and associated habitats throughout the west in states such as Idaho, Oregon, Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on fieldwork experience across a variety of environmental topics and network with existing Tetra Tech natural resource projects and employees.

Fieldwork will start as early as mid-April and is anticipated to extend through the fall of 2025, with some flexibility based on availability and project assignments.

Field crews will be based out of Boise, Idaho. Relocation expenses to Boise are not provided. Travel from Boise to the job site is included in your work and hourly duties. Travel expenses (airfare, hotels, per diem) to and from project sites will be reimbursed. The opportunity for a different home base other than Boise may be considered.

This position will require extensive travel away from the office/home in remote areas, often without cellular service. Depending on project assignment, fieldwork examples could include day trips up to two hour drive each way from Boise, flights to project site and staying in hotels for up to 15-day mobilizations, or the possibility of camping in remote field locations. Hitch schedules may be modified around Tetra Tech observed federal holidays and project priorities. Personal field equipment is the responsibility of the employee (i.e., field pack, water bottles, sturdy hiking boots and appropriate clothing). Tetra Tech will provide project specific equipment that could include field vehicle, basic safety equipment, electronic field data collection tablet, laptop, GPS check-in device, and charging station.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and range from $19-$24/hour.
