Field Commissioning Specialist
Job Summary

Organize and coordinate field execution of startup and commissioning of Renewable Energy capital projects. Provide start up oversight and direction to multiple contractors, equipment suppliers, and subject matter experts of key tasks for day-to-day execution during commissioning phase. Ensure equipment and projects are commissioned in accordance with Company and equipment standards, specifications, schedules and requirements. Works directly with project managers, project engineers, Operations, and leads on commissioning reviews, technical aspects of the equipment, schedule objectives, project planning, safety of persons and equipment startup, quality of testing and commissioning records, and customer focused equipment turnover. 
Span of Control: individual contributor role that leads 3-5 projects in pre-commissioning, commissioning, or commercial operation phase and multiple vendors per project.

Key Accountabilities Coordinate and direct multiple vendors, contractors, for startup, commissioning, system testing and acceptance of equipment (walkdowns). Coordinate commissioning activities on multiple projects to avoid interferences when working in common areas and adjacent to other internal groups performing maintenance or project work Review design/construction drawings, hot and cold commissioning requirements or plans, Equipment startup manuals for safe and reliable commissioning. Coordinate with personnel to refine plans and schedule to ensure they align with key start up objectives. Lead project safety efforts by enforcing community safety standards. Provide direct input in the development of project specific safety plans, performs field safety observations, and immediately addresses any violations or concerns. Review life critical work/tasks with commissioning teams to ensure appropriate planning, understanding, and coordination is in place to avoid any safety incidents. Enforce stop work authority and lead multiple vendors in safe startup of equipment or systems. Support operations and customer needs during pre-commissioning and commissioning phases by addressing and reacting to customer needs with urgency and focus. Ensure compliance with equipment start-up and Transmission Operator while aligning North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) or Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC on best practices. Contribute and record commissioning or construction punch list. Field or system verification and acceptance of punch list task completion. Responsible as key tag protection leader and/or job leader per applicable Corporate policy.
  Minimum Education & Experience Requirements Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science with a concentration in electrical or SCADA/controls with 5 years of experience in electrical equipment installation, testing, startup or commissioning.  Associate degree in engineering or computer science with a concentration in electrical or SCADA/controls with 7 years of experience in electrical equipment installation, testing, startup or commissioning. High School Diploma or equivalent with 9 years of job experience in electrical equipment installation, testing, startup or commissioning.
  Other Qualifications Expected to travel 70-80% within the state of Michigan. Knowledge of SCADA and controls engineering Extensive knowledge of Renewable electrical equipment Additional Information
