Job Objective:

The Field Designer role is an established performer that is responsible translating design concepts into real-world environments and ensuring that products meet user needs in practical, on-site applications. This role involves collaboration with design teams, project managers, and field personnel to bridge the gap between design intent and on-the-ground implementation.

 

Duties and Responsibilities of the Position: 

· Develop design briefs through order directly with key clients and work alongside sales and support teams.

· Effectively apply functional, process, and procedural or technical imagination to address business challenges.

· Work with assigned directors, mentors, and trainers to develop a working knowledge of Mohawk’s design guidelines, internal processes, equipment, and all product types.

· Use artistic skills, design principles, and machine perimeters to develop technically accurate design files in response to design requests, specific instruction, or generic brief, while maintaining acceptable lead times.

· Engage in artwork reviews, mentoring sessions, and team discussions for continuous development and increased knowledge of practical design skills, company and industry standards, and internal / external design expectations.

· Develop improved insight into client’s needs and expectations; use to improve response times and client dependency and trust.

· Provide feedback and full details on client requirements to assigned production teams that enables the design work to be carried out effectively.

· Utilize various digital and non-digital design systems to create, modify, and develop product as requested by internal and external customers.

· Communicate with internal stakeholders as needed.

· Maintain appropriate documents, designs, processes, procedures, and policies as determined by work area.

· Perform other duties as needed.

 

Required Experience and Education: 

· Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

· 2-4 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.

· Experience using various design systems required (ex. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator AS400, CAD, Nedgraphics, EasyMap, Tuft and Texcelle Software)

· Understanding of design /color principles and concept preferred.

· Technical knowledge of roto-gravure printing, digital printing, and flooring production processes preferred.

· For colorist-specific role, must be able to pass a colorblind test.
