FIELD ENGINEER

Reporting to the Project Superintendent and/or Director of Field Operations, this position is primarily responsible for performing line and grade, control points, quality review and quality control on a project to satisfy McGough’s commitment to the client with regard to schedule, cost, and quality.  This position also monitors and provides general guidance to construction crew in establishing controlling line and grade, plumb and square of all aspects of each project. 

Qualifications:

Required:

2+ years of experience in construction related survey work High School Diploma Fully knowledgeable in the use of current survey equipment and technology

Preferred:

5+ years of experience in construction related survey work 2+ years of college education including geometry, coordinate geometry, trigonometry, or surveying Strong technical skills, including but not limited to CAD Software, Bluebeam, BIM 360, Excel Knowledge of various construction methods and procedures, including but not limited to steel or concrete structures, post tension, tilt wall methods

Office and Travel:

Office:   Various jobsites and/or corporate/regional office.

Travel:   In addition to regional meetings, overnight travel may be involved.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

Plan and coordinate activities of the survey needs with the overall project schedule, regardless of size or complexity of project. This can include multiple projects in separate geographic regions. Supervise, train, and develop survey helpers, as needed Interpret and understand construction plans and drawings Obtain correction information from project staff to effectively execute work Maintain an Engineer’s Field Book or an equivalent record of built job conditions and record drawings of the work Perform work with an emphasis on safety, quality, productivity, and product Implement Lean Principles
