Field Engineer - Communications Systems

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapon's systems and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

Under the direction of the North Ranges Communications Supervisor, the Communications Systems Field Engineer performs a wide range of tasks that include repair, installation, modifications, evaluation, project support, and manages project execution involving new capabilities, deployments, expanding infrastructure, and modification of communications and IT systems, sub-systems, and components.

Duties:

Research, plan, support, and lead assigned project teams and customer stakeholder. Work with functional areas to plan and coordinate the activities involved in repair, design, fabrication, configuration, installation, testing, and sustainment of operational services/systems. Apply a broad and in-depth working knowledge of telecommunications and remote site infrastructure technology that promotes reliability and survivability of equipment and services. Create and manage processes for sustainment of new system documentation including detailed deployment, test, concept of operations, and support plans. Analyze information technology concepts that address multi-user systems and distribution environments, then define requirements and create presentations for proposed projects. Ability to manage client and stakeholder expectations to effectively set and deliver on commitments. Establish customer relationships that encourage feedback and ensure expectations are being met. Research and analyze data such as customer and vendor proposals, specifications and manuals to determine the feasibility and execution of projects and sub-contracts. Serves as a project focal point and oversight for consistent project reporting, assignment, schedule oversite, planning, mentoring, and active communication with both customer and the project management team of personnel. Knowledge and understanding of current engineering practices and standards. Apply the principles and techniques of engineering design to specific projects. Support the development of work breakdown structures and statement of work documents for vendor sub-contracts. Ability to provide technical direction and manage other technicians and team members.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or computer science. Relevant experience in communication systems engineering. Knowledge of emerging technology to apply new solutions to requirements and to plan advanced projects. Ability to develop and present new approaches, establish innovative techniques, and identify measurement and evaluation criteria to determine program effectiveness, develop new or modified work methods, and analyze and resolve complex problems. Ability to manage engineering projects efficiently and effectively. Ability to provide technical direction to other engineers, technicians and support personnel. Write and prepare a variety of technical reports, manuals and other types of written communications. Ability to analyze data, resolve problems and make decisions independently. DoD experience is desired.

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE

An associates degree in engineering or other technical discipline, or formal academic/vocational/military training and a minimum of 10 years of experience in the specialty field are required for this position.

Broad knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering that enable senior technical contributor-level performance on complex projects or programs Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply developments in engineering to solve problems in the specialty area Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems in operational hardware and software Excellent verbal and written communication skills Planning/organizational skills Required to qualify for and maintain a government security clearance and must have a valid, current state driver's license.

SALARY

The expected salary range for this position is $91,000 to $120,000 annually.

JT4, LLC considers factors such as (but not limited to) responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Must be able to work in a field environment with work at remote locations. Must travel overnight to other sites for reviews and deployment planning. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license. Must have strong computer and organizational skills. The ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to work odd shifts, long hours, weekends, holidays, changing shifts, and overtime. Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other team members and those contacted in the performance of required duties.
