Job Summary The Field Engineer will provide a supporting role to the Construction Manager and Project Manager. General responsibilities will include implementation of the project specific RFI’s, submittals, transmittals, quality control procedures, quality inspection. Ensure the craft workers are performing their work as described in the drawings and specifications. Responsibilities Primary responsibility will be managing field operations via the Construction Manager including safety, communications, QA/QC, resources, subcontractor, material, equipment, and schedule management. Safety planning will play a critical role in all planning and field operations activities. Work closely with Construction Manager to determine applicable equipment types, personnel skill sets, means, methods, and schedule updates. Perform inspections and verifications of soil conditions during drilling and foundation installation. Generate related inspection reports and associated quality documentation. Manage and implement a project specific quality control program including executing, tracking, and organizing records. Ensuring that required reporting is accomplished per project specific requirements. Plan, schedule, and coordinate with crews and other project personnel to ensure that all required quality audits/inspections are performed and documented. Manage and update with material ordering, inventory, receiving, tracking, and reporting paperwork. Assist with subcontractor scheduling and management. Manage subcontractor and vendor relationships including identifying and mitigating potential risk and/or cost overrun exposure. Assist with customer communications such as POD (plan of the day) reports, RFI (request for information) submissions and material submittals and approvals. Assist with tool program management. Maintain accurate logs for schedule impacts, scope changes, communications, customer requests, etc. Track and accurately report weekly scope and subcontractor quantities. Assist with change order log tracking and updates. Assist with equipment tracking, call-on, and call-off forms through the Fleet. Assist with final job closeout, as-builts, and job binder creation and turnover. Will provide other duties as assigned. 100% Project Specific travel is required. Extended work hours and weekend work may be required. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering, with specialization in Geotechnical Engineering. Preferred Qualifications One to five years’ experience with field activities and quality control. Physical Demands and Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment.
