JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.
JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
Under close supervision, a Field Engineer I performs a variety of fundamental field engineering tasks in the installation, operations, testing, and maintenance of electronic equipment and systems. Work is at an entry level and is generally performed as a member of a project team.
Employee will be responsible for the following functions/duties:
Conduct research and reference reading to assist higher-level engineers in obtaining technical information Keep informed of and study currently approved standards, codes, and procedures applied to engineering specialty Perform fundamental engineering tasks requiring standard techniques, such as tolerance studies and design calculations Plan and carry out successive engineering steps and resolve technical problems by standard practices and techniques Support projects with limited scope or parts of more complex projects with detailed instructions on the intent and scope of the documents to be prepared Assist in preparation of reports, correspondence, or technical studies Perform other job-related duties, as requiredRANGE POSITION DESCRIPTION
This position requires a working knowledge of Radio Frequency (RF) theory, general knowledge of microwave communications equipment, and RF spectrum monitoring systems. The incumbent's responsibilities include specializing in maintaining and repairing real-time microwave and spectrum monitoring equipment. The candidate will provide real-time mission support to ensure end-to-end connectivity for pre-mission checks, voice, video, and data. They will monitor microwave radios for abnormalities and correct real-time issues as they arise. Additionally, the candidate should be proficient in using spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and power meters. They must also have a basic understanding of local area networks (LAN), wide-area networks (WAN), and data transport and networking equipment. It is highly desirable for the incumbent to understand the different types of data transmission mediums, such as fiber optics, twisted pair, and RF cable. Furthermore, the candidate should be able to interpret engineering drawings and use them to install and modify equipment. Proficiency in terminating various types of RF and other copper-based cabling is highly desirable. Additionally, the incumbent must be able to work independently and as part of a team. A suitable candidate will be required to participate in an industry-standard tower climbing training program, which includes tower climbing and tower rescue certifications. Once certified, the candidate will be required to climb microwave towers or telemetry antenna pedestals to install or repair antennas, mounts, waveguides, and associated hardware. The candidate must also be familiar with Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, Visio, and other software applications. The incumbant may also be tasked for cross utilization work requiring alternative shift work to accommodate varying mission support objectives. The incumbent will perform preventative maintenance on all equipment in accordance with established procedures using Local Work Cards (LWC), operating procedures, tech manuals, and other technical documentation. They will also annotate preventative maintenance and create corrective maintenance job orders in Maximo to track work performed. While performing duties, the candidate must be able to communicate effectively with customers through email, phone, and face-to-face meetings. The applicant will also be required to obtain a Security+ certification and must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance up to the Secret level.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Good working knowledge of basic electronics, RF theory, voice, and video data transmission. Proficiency with office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Maximo, purchase requisitions, tool control, logistics, safety, quality control, and preventative maintenance.
REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Associate's degree in engineering or formal academic/vocational training or military equivalent and 4 or more years of technical/professional experience in the specialty field. Must have a professional knowledge of applicable engineering concepts and principles, and a familiarity with related engineering fields. Must have a practical knowledge of test methods and practices sufficient to perform relatively routine engineering procedures and to prepare or make minor modifications of standard test procedures or test equipment work instructions. Incumbent must have a valid, current state driver's license. Must qualify for and maintain a Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required.
SALARY
The expected salary range for this position is $76,356 to $90,251 annually.
