Field Engineer II - Infrastructure

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

JOB SUMMARY - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

Under general supervision of a senior-level engineer, a Field Engineer II performs a variety of fundamental field engineering tasks involved in the installation, operations, testing, and maintenance of electronic equipment and systems.

Employee will be responsible for the following functions/duties:

Conduct research and reference reading to assist higher-level engineers in obtaining technical information Keep informed of and study currently approved standards, codes, and procedures applied to engineering specialty Perform engineering or other highly technical tasks that are varied and may be somewhat difficult in character Plan and carry out successive engineering steps and resolve technical problems by standard practices and techniques, such as tolerance studies and design calculations Support projects with limited scope or parts of more complex projects with detailed instructions on the intent and scope of the documents to be prepared Generate sections of design specifications of more complex projects or complete specifications of less complex projects Using computer-assisted test methods, conduct laboratory investigations on equipment or systems Assist in preparation of reports, correspondence, or technical studies Prepare, deliver, and submit technical presentations for in-process design and review meetings

RANGE POSITION DESCRIPTION

Lead the install new cable lines, both underground and in buildings. Lead the performing of maintenance on existing cables, including evaluation tests and repairing old or malfunctioning cables. Lead the cutting and splicing of Cat 5/6 copper and fiber optic cables. Lead the locating of problem areas and guide the performing of repairs as needed. Lead the installation and maintenance of network, public address, telephone, access control and security systems and determine solutions for any issues preventing the service from operating normally. Lead the establishment and maintenance of filing systems, databases, and logs as needed for tracking project status and inventory. Lead duties are performed both indoors and outdoors. Outdoor duties may be performed on even or uneven surfaces, which may be dry or wet. Outdoor duties may be performed on gravel or shingled roof. Climbing stairs, ladders, towers, and scaffolds, indoors or outdoors, is required. Lead work in a field environment with some shift work. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. (anything heavier requires two or more people or mechanical assistance). Travel to remote working locations may be require Must have the ability to lift heavy equipment, and crawl into small spaces. Must have general knowledge of electrical processes and familiarity with the equipment and tools used in the field. Must possess strong interpersonal skills and ability to successfully interact with teammates, customers, and employees of other companies who may be working on integrated projects. Conducts research and reference reading to assist the section supervisor in obtaining technical information and keeps informed of currently approved standards, codes, and procedures applied to the infrastructure specialty. Performs engineering technician or other highly technical tasks that are varied and may be somewhat difficult in character. Plans and carries out successive engineering steps and resolves technical problems by standard practices and techniques, such as site surveys, quoting, and project design. Supports projects with limited scope or parts of more complex projects with detailed instructions on the intent and scope of the documents to be prepared. Generate sections of design specifications of more complex projects or complete specifications of less complex projects. Assists in preparation of reports, correspondence or technical surveys. Prepare, deliver and submit technical presentations for in-process design and review meetings.

REQUIREMENTS - EDUCATION, TECHNICAL, AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Associates Degree in Engineering or other technical discipline or formal academic/vocational/military training and a minimum of 7 or more years of technical/professional experience in the specialty field. Must have a professional knowledge of applicable engineering concepts and principles, and a familiarity with related engineering fields. Must have a practical knowledge of test methods and practices sufficient to perform routine to more complex engineering procedures and to prepare or make minor modifications of standard test procedures or test equipment work instructions. Incumbent must have a valid, current state driver's license. Must qualify for and maintain a Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required.

SALARY

The expected pay range for this position is $81,723 to $87,360 annually

The salary range offered for this position is a good faith description of the expected salary range this role will pay. JT4 LLC considers factors such as (but not limited to) responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards. There is occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting and use of a computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness. Routine travel to remote Company work locations may be required.
