Overview Responsible for maintaining the operations and appearance of equipment at the jobsite level, will be supervised directly by project personnel but will also work with Shop Manager to plan and schedule work or seek advice or assistance. Responsibilities Fleet maintenance management Perform maintenance and preventative maintenance on all equipment troubleshooting and/or determine if repairs will be done in the field, a dealership or other method Travel to jobsites for repairs, inspections, review field maintenance to ensure it is done properly, review maintenance reports Onsite field repairs/troubleshooting Update the equipment locator list and update equipment and tool inventory Develop and maintain an equipment maintenance tracking database Maintain proper record keeping Fleet maintenance management Update tool inventory Operate equipment to diagnose problems and inspect equipment for defects Ensure all equipment has an equipment ID (logo, unit numbers, digital photos) Verify USDOT annual inspections in trucks and on file in office Ensure equipment safety (i.e. backup alarms, lights, seat belts, fire extinguishers, rigging, etc.) Show a general interest in all basic machines, including crane safety (anti two blocks, rigging, crane maintenance daily log book/annual inspection, etc.); investigate or question others to ensure logs and two blocks are correct, etc. Occasionally travel to jobsites for repairs, inspections review field maintenance to ensure it is done properly and review maintenance reports Review with operators and superintendent's maintenance records and major repairs in order for crews to be self-sufficient and responsible for their own maintenance Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy in accordance with dealership and factory standards Diagnose cause of any malfunction and perform repair Communicate to obtain needed parts Examine assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended Document all work performed and recommended on the repair order Road test vehicles when required Report machinery defects or malfunctions to supervisor Keep shop area neat and clean Maintain and accountable for all shop tools and manuals be returned to the proper place and in the same condition as received Understand, keep abreast of and comply with federal, state and local regulations such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc. Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner Report any safety issues immediately to management Qualifications EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one to three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience One-year certificate from college or technical school or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking perrsonal responsibility for working toward Zero Injury principles Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos Write simple correspondence Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals Compute rate, ratio and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form Qualified to drive the 1-ton rig on site and from project to project MasTec, Inc. is an equal employment opportunity employer.
