Job Description
The Field Quality Inspector is responsible for maintaining communication with engineering teams and supervisors, both in-office and remotely, to ensure construction projects meet specifications and requirements. This role involves inspecting completed construction for compliance, assessing existing infrastructure, coordinating underground utility locations, and capturing field measurements using specialized equipment. The Field Quality Inspector will also handle document control audits, quality assurance, and represent engineering staff at meetings.
ResponsibilitiesMaintain consistent communication with engineering teams and supervisors.Inspect completed construction to assess compliance with specifications and drawing requirements.Conduct field assessments of existing infrastructure, such as poles and electrical equipment.Meet with stakeholders to discuss constraints impacting project health.Utilize measurement tools like the 'IKE' device to capture field measurements.Coordinate with NM 811 for underground utility locations.Capture existing conditions via pictures and documentation for engineering teams.Review quality assurance documents for compliance.Attend pre-construction meetings to represent engineering staff.Perform document control audits for adherence to processes.Guide quality assurance decisions and reporting using client standards.Meet customers to discuss projects and relay information to design teams.Maintain compliance with safety requirements.Responsible for maintaining required licenses and certifications.Collect data, take photos, and communicate with customers.Perform other duties as assigned.Comply with all policies and standards.Essential SkillsHigh School Diploma/GED and 7 years of related experience in quality roles.Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong computer and communications media skills.Advanced technical writing experience.Ability to read design maps (GIS mapping).Experience with field data collection and equipment usage.Additional Skills & QualificationsFamiliarity with distribution assets and field data collection in distribution space.Ability to work with engineers and perform field data collection.Construction experience is beneficial.Work Environment
This position supplements the field services team and involves mostly day trips in the field with rare weekend work. The role requires on-site work with a fleet truck provided. It is a 40-hour week with opportunities for overtime as needed, and consists of 25% office work and 75% field work on average.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
