Basic Objectives: Work with Operation Management to identify training opportunities, develop trainers, enhance safety performance and the technical ability of the workforce. The manager does this by developing training staff, but also performing hands on training and presentations as well.
Primary job duties include:
Helps design, implement, oversee and direct programs that cultivate employee competencies and effectiveness, including, but not limited to orientation training, job-specific training and skill advancement verification, train-the-trainer programs, and, by assuring that employees have access to training and development resources. Develop trends about safety performance and communicate with Field Management team to relay trends and provide prognosis on improving performance Develop safety plan in collaboration with Field Management that improves safety performance Meet with Field Management periodically to monitor progress and evaluate changes in strategy and approach Collaborates with Assistant Field Training Manager to coordinate service needs for operation support Coordinate and prioritize field trainer tasks to meet with safety objectives and plans Represents the Company at industry events to identify new tools and techniques to enhance crew performance. Researches new tools and techniques to confirm viability. Collaborates with Operation Management and Equipment Center Manager on tools, gear and equipment innovations and oversees the testing of those concepts in the Operation. Collaborate with Assistant Field Training Manager to ensure development is on-track for Field Training Associates, including assistance in goal establishment and monitoring progress. Train the trainer: presents material and curriculum to trainers to help educate on the proper presentation techniques. Provides expert knowledge, skills and abilities to represent a “standard of excellence” in the industry in regard to regulatory and industry best management practices and compliance, including, but not limited to OSHA, ANSI, MUTCD, FMSCA, and other as may be applicable. Constantly evaluates existing policy and procedures for improvement opportunities and reviews with all applicable Company representatives. Helps draft and create policy in collaboration with applicable Company representatives. Participates in the development of monthly newsletter. Directs and/or works with Field Training Associates to conduct an investigation of incidents that result in injury, service interruption, and/or property damage. Helps provide logistical support for training events. Monitors compliance with all Federal and State training requirements (DOT, Flagger, FA/CPR, Forklift Truck) and ensures training is performed to meet the requirements. Works with operations to identify talent selected for initial ACRT training and then manages recertification process. Work with Field Management to develop and present impromptu trainings in the field. Presents module and hands-on training, specifically EHAP and safety leadership oriented modules, as needed from time to time to help demonstrate proper training techniques. Represents Penn Line at various customer functions, including safety meetings or committees, by presenting Company policies and procedures and presentations regarding safety related activities. Represents Penn Line on industry committees and meetings, like the ANSI Z-133 and ULCC.
Rate of Pay: Varies depending upon Skills and Experience.
Work Area: Travel required. Candidates must be flexible to travel when called upon since work locations are subject to change upon short notice based on contract demands. Position is located in the Richmond, VA and surrounding area.
Work Schedule: Monday-Thursday 10 hour day. (During daylight savings time schedule is 5, 8hr days).
