Field Scientist

Job Description
Our Midland team is looking for someone to conduct Phase I/Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs). Perform tests and sampling of environmental materials including air, soil, and groundwater. Operates field monitoring equipment. Assists with operation and maintenance of remediation systems. May assist with or manage remediation projects, and environmental site assessments. Transport material samples or documents to the lab for further testing and analysis. May tabulate and prepare data for written reports. Cleans and maintains field monitoring equipment. Adhere to strict safety standards.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
A strong candidate is versatile, can learn quickly and communicate well; is well organized, pays attention to detail;, and enjoys working in a fast-paced team environment. Further, you’ll be responsible for:Requirements:Conducting desktop research of readily available resources to evaluate project sites for the presence of natural and/or cultural resources and potential environmental issues and compliance with state, local and federal regulations.Consulting with other technical professionals and supervisor on routine and complex projects.Independently performs non-routine and complex field testing on larger and more diverse projects. Directs lower-level technicians on projects.Calibrate field monitoring equipment such as PID or combustible gas indicator.Sample soil, water, oil, containing materials in accordance with guidelines.Sample gas (H2S) utilizing proper safety procedures.Assist with or manage remediation projects.Perform complex monitoring and well sampling.Performing site visits, field observations and field data collection; analyzing data and reporting results.Report any safety issues or concerns to management. Will utilize iPad and data apps to gather field data and operate drones to gather field data, training will be provided.Maintaining quality standards on all projects.Following safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related science field and a minimum 1 year related experience. Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 5 years’ related experience.Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.Preferred Certification:One year’s experience with environmental field services.OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training.Certification in field of expertise.
