Field Service Applications Specialist
(Remote: Prefered Mid Atlantic - United States)

 

The Field Service Applications Specialist is responsible for the Post-Sale Liquid Handling platform-based application solutions within the Americas. This person will be the technical resource to assist and support the Field Automation Engineer. An application solution is defined as a combination of software, software scripts, hardware, and biology that target a specific application. These application solutions could include instrument components from one or more Business Units, collaboration with third-party instrument and/or reagent vendors, and interaction with the Market Managers in the Business Units. The person in this position will act as an expert and knowledge source for the Tecan service team and will be a liaison with the Application Scientists of the sales and application team.

 

Responsibilities

Become a technical expert within the Liquid Handling automation field, providing specific application expertise to gain customer confidence during the pre- and post-sales process.  Encourage the FAE focus from product features to the customer’s application through coaching and continuing education. Responsible for all aspects of the applications post-sale with collaborations in pre-sale support, including application analysis, solution design, and configuration, instrument demonstration (if required), through to installation, and providing higher level complexity post-sale support. Provide application support and training for other members of the service organization. Work directly with Liquid Handling applications and product management to ensure excellent flow of information from both the field and customers to product management and back again Ability to travel (often on short notice) Works within guidelines of company travel and expense policies. Handles essential tasks as assigned, and responds to change productively. Supports the Quality System and Quality Policy by following procedures/work instructions and creating records to meet the requirements of the Quality System Regulation Follows all local safety procedures, State and Federal OSHA Regulations, and reports any safety concerns.

Keeping abreast of scientific literature and maintaining an awareness of new technologies and techniques  

 

Experience

BSc,, in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Biology or equivalent.  Minimum 2 years relevant liquid handling and automation experience gained within an academic or industry setting, including writing automation applications in instrument native language or software. Experience with VBScript, VBA, and .NET applications, is preferable.   Experience with a range of molecular biology techniques including NGS sample preparation, NA purification, quantification and normalization, PCR and qPCR reaction set up. Experience with automated instrumentation is required. Proven ability to work effectively with customers and internal associates Practical knowledge of Windows Applications.
