Reimagine What’s Possible
As a member of the North American Merchant Gases Foods Team, this individual will play a key role supporting and growing our customer base in the Foods segment. This role is designed to provide support for Air Products line of proprietary cryogenic food processing equipment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Troubleshooting customer equipment/process issues, managing equipment installations at customer sites, commissioning equipment at customer sites, conducting customer process audits, conducting customer trials, and working to identify new ways to add value for our customers as well as improve upon our equipment design/offerings.
The individual will be responsible for fielding incoming customer phone calls for assistance with remote equipment troubleshooting. Main applications that this individual will support are liquid nitrogen for chilling/freezing food in cabinet freezers, nitrogen tunnel freezers, spiral freezers, blenders/grinders and other processing equipment.
Support for modified atmospheric packaging with various industrial gases. Most equipment will have a PLC or relay-based controls, so strong electrical skills are required.
Familiarity inside a control cabinet with devices like relays, process controllers, solenoids, transducers, thermocouples, HMI/PLCs, and VFDs. Additionally, most equipment has conveying systems, motors, cryogenic valving and other mechanical devices. Strong mechanical aptitude is a requirement.
Work hands-on in Food processing facilities that serve a variety of markets and will be in direct contact with Food items (seafood/shellfish, poultry, vegetables, breweries, beef, pork, etc.) and must be able to work in these environments.
The individual will need to assess the customers'/prospects' problem, analyze the data and develop a solution to resolve the problem in a timely fashion.
The successful candidate is energized by solving difficult problems under the pressure of time and resource constraints.
Startup support for customers, and providing input to our research group for new offering development.
Required Qualifications:
BS degree in engineering or technical trade school degree in a science/related field required.
Strong communication skills are a requirement. Must work well with internal and external stakeholders and be able to handle challenging customer situations.
Individual should have experience troubleshooting equipment and process related issues and feel comfortable working in a team environment.
Strong electrical troubleshooting skills (PLC and relay based control systems) is critical to this role. Candidate must have these skills or demonstrate the ability to learn these skills quickly.
Strong mechanical aptitude required: hands on work with motors, VFDs, conveyors, sprockets, pulleys, linkages, and the tools associated.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot unique customer process issues.
5 or more years experience in industrial engineering/plant operations experience is a plus.
Support all of US and Canada, ~50% travel with some weekend travel required. Some atypical business hours when traveling required.
