ROLE SUMMARY

The Field Service-Laser and Press Brake Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and support of Flow’s advanced fiber laser cutting and press brake machinery. This role demands strong mechanical and electrical capabilities, a customer-focused mindset, and the flexibility to travel frequently.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Install, commission, troubleshoot, and repair CNC laser cutting and press brake equipment Deliver both on-site and remote technical support to ensure machines operate at peak performance Provide customer training on machine operation, safety procedures, and preventive maintenance Diagnose and resolve issues involving mechanical, electrical, and software components Prepare comprehensive service reports and documentation Maintain current technical documents and assist with identifying required parts Build and sustain strong customer relationships through professional service and support Participate in the on-call rotation for after-hours and holiday support Conduct routine and preventive maintenance as scheduled

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES – None

TRAVEL- Travel extensively—up to 100% overnight Monday through Friday, including occasional international trips

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: 

High school diploma required; associate degree or technical certification preferred Minimum of 2 years’ experience with CNC laser and press brake systems Proven hands-on experience in field service or installation of industrial machinery Strong diagnostic skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems Valid driver's license and passport required Capable of lifting to 70 lbs. and performing physically demanding tasks Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekends

PREFFERRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

Working knowledge of I/O modules, servo systems, encoders, and control cabinet components Experience with EtherCAT, Ethernet networking, reading electrical schematics, and mechanical blueprints Ability to maintain a personal basic tool kit (specialized tools will be provided)

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT USED:

Standard office equipment Hand tools and precision machine tools

EDUCATION & TRAINING: 

Associate degree in Electronics, Robotics, or Mechanical Engineering preferred At least 2 years of recent experience servicing CNC, robotics, or motion control systems Experience with CNC programming is a plus.
