_Job Purpose_
_This position serves as a company technical on site representative, and deals with customer service assignment including on-site preventive maintenance, inspection, overhaul and repair services. Also performs call-out services and commissioning activities on Solar gas turbine packages. Will also mentor less experienced FSR’s and customer personnel and oversee On the Job Training activities._
Nature and Scope
The FSR III must have advanced knowledge of methods and experience in the maintenance of various equipment associated with primary and utility equipment.
Principal Accountabilities
.Understands and complies with Solar and customer HSSE policies and procedures. Ensure the work permit system is complied with. Ensure safe site and practices. Participates by attending or conducting general safety and toolbox safety meetings and completing all required safety training including CLMS training courses. Suggests safety improvements. Act as company representative on accident investigations.
.Ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded. Ensure all maintenance and commissioning activities are carried out in accordance with Solar Engineering specifications, recommendations and best practices.
Provide feedback on problems encountered and how they were resolved.
.Will be aware of procedures for identifying sources of information and technical advice but will be capable of independent reasoning and judgment. . .Maintain sufficient up-to-date product knowledge to allow repair and adjustment of mechanical, electrical, electronic and control components/process systems. Be capable of reading and using applicable drawings, ladder logic diagrams and technical manuals. Liaise with OEM’s and outside resources on resolving problems.
.Must be able to proactively recognize electrical/mechanical abnormalities, and potential safety problems and take appropriate action to prevent a serious safety hazard from developing and causing damage to equipment. Maintain sufficient records to allow reasonable technical and financial choices to be made based on fact. Advise Solar and customers on issues related to warranty, logistics, engineering, project management, parts inventory, technical training and Maintenance Management systems .
.Ensure accurate communications and reporting between immediate Solar management and customer representatives. Submit accurate work activity reports and non-routine reports, if necessary.
.Will demonstrate the ability to use sound technical judgment for the trouble-shooting of complex technical problems. Will be capable of using advanced troubleshooting techniques to ensure that the root cause of problems are identified.
.Work individually or with assigned FSR’s on the preventive/corrective maintenance.
.Will be required to assist in a technical manner with the operations and maintenance crew in any area if the workload exceeds the number of personnel available.
.Demonstrate capability for a multi-disciplined approach to rotating equipment and associated balance of plant, maintenance, repair, commissioning and trouble-shooting and be capable of working in a diverse team environment.
Utilize the Work Force Management Process and system to manage work orders. This includes performing pre-work by reviewing and updating site safety information, managing employee information, and availability. The WFM application will also be used to record and report time, manage software and drawing changes, generate daily reports, review hardship data, and manage the task library.
Qualifications
.The FSR III will have 7-10 years experience in a related industry. Will have served a recognized apprenticeship or equivalent period of training. Will possess a technical qualification e.g. Engineering Degree (electrical, mechanical, instrumentation)
.Higher experience/skill levels may balance lower academic qualifications, and vice versa. Experience in an overseas/offshore environment is essential, also familiarity with rotating equipment and PLC systems. This experience may be either Mechanical or Instrument/ Electrical and the FSR III must be capable of a cross-disciplined approach to the job.
.The candidate will have a sound understanding of Gas Turbine theory process, gas compressor theory, large generators and operational practice including control system logic and driven equipment processes in general, both upstream and downstream.
.The ability to program and perform troubleshooting on PLC systems is required.
The FSR III will have a sound understanding of condition monitoring techniques including vibration analysis and RCM.
Where regionally required, the incumbent will obtain and maintain an offshore medical and survival certificate and/or other training/certifications as needed.
**Job Purpose**
This position is accountable for the development and delivery of technical instruction to customers, field service personnel, and other Solar employees in the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of Solar’s products and other related advanced technical topics. DIMENSIONS:
Contributes to revenue generation for Customer Services and supports the Technical Training Business/Sales Plan by conducting courses for customers, field personnel, and other Solar employees. The incumbent teaches most of the various courses offered, including advanced courses.
**NATURE AND SCOPE:**
Responsible for developing and conducting technical training programs for customers, field personnel and other Solar employees. Typical students attending courses are engineering personnel, maintenance supervisors, maintenance technicians, and equipment operators. The range of technical expertise required to teach these courses includes quantitative analysis/performance calculation of advanced engineering concepts related to Solar products and applications, and technical expertise in the following areas:
Design, applications, function, and operational characteristics of Solar turbomachinery and associated sub-systems, including commissioning, routine operating procedures, and routine maintenance practices.
Relay and Turbotronic control system logic and associated software/ documentation.
Advanced operating procedures, routine through advanced turbomachinery maintenance practices for advanced, non-routine product applications.
Turbotronic control system intermediate and advanced level programming and maintenance.
Intermediate to advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques.
Advanced instrumentation and controls.
System upgrades, retrofits, redesigns.
Driven equipment design, troubleshooting, and controls.
Requires knowledge and experience equivalent to a B.S. degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or a related subject.
Designs and develops print, video or computer based training programs with minimal assistance from a technical editor/instructional designer. Monitors the technical and instructional integrity of training courseware, requiring instructional design/curriculum development skills. Conducts reviews of courseware and obtains concurrence of technical content from technical experts. Project manages and directs combined efforts with engineering and instructional design staff to develop courses for new products and advanced technologies, and modifies existing courseware to incorporate product changes.
Analyzes and researches unique technical requirements to customize student materials in support of courses taught at the customer’s site. Has authority to provide direction and information relative to major areas of expertise to modify or change training courses to meet specific customer needs.
While on site, the incumbent is self-supervised, and acts as a primary point of contact and source of product information for new and existing Solar customers.
The incumbent has excellent verbal communication and instructional platform skills to convey technical concepts and thoughts concisely to varied technical levels, often in a multicultural environment.
Provides leadership, guidance and training to Level 1, 2, and 3 instructors in the areas of product/technical knowledge, instructional skills, course development, and instructional materials revision.
Makes decisions regarding allocation of development project resources. Evaluates vendors of numerous products and services. Makes recommendations to management for purchase of equipment and/or services.
**PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:**
1. Technical Instruction
Conducts technical training courses for Solar customers, Field Service personnel, and other Solar employees in all applications of Solar’s entire product line.
2. Course Development
Designs and develops new product training programs, including print documentation, video and computer based training.
3. Professional Staff Development
Provides leadership, guidance and training to Level 1, 2, and 3 instructors in the areas of product/technical knowledge, instructional skills, course development, and instructional materials revision.
4. Resource Planning
Project manages the evaluation, specification, and makes recommendations for purchase of hardware (test equipment, computers, other specialized equipment) and software required to support advanced technical courses.
