Field Service Supervisor - Collection & Distribution

The Field Services and Operations Supervisor will oversee operations of wastewater collections and water distribution systems with additional oversight of the wastewater treatment team. Responsibilities will include staff supervision, wastewater collection system, water distribution system, wastewater treatment, training, planning, equipment, budget, regulation compliance, public relations, and reporting.

Duties and responsibilities

Perform inspections of collection and distribution systems for compliance and furnish sewer and water connection status information.Interact with City customers to provide information, discuss collection and distribution system-related issues/concerns, resolve complaints, or receive feedback.Supervise and perform grading in the construction and/or resurfacing of roads; utilize levels to check grades and ensure compliance with specifications.Plan and organize activities including prioritizing, scheduling and assigning tasks while ensuring compliance with departmental safety standards.Supervise staff, including training and providing for technical or professional development, selecting or recommending selection, evaluating work, counseling, disciplining, and terminating or recommending termination.Operate motor vehicles and equipment under all types of weather conditions to include back-hoe, laser, transit, quick cut saw, tapping machine, hand tools, cleaning equipment, painting equipment, lawn equipment, front end loader, dump truck, power saw and jackhammer. Monitor maintenance and repairs of equipment; perform welding as needed.Maintain record system and gather information/ data to support report generation; process daily paperwork including reports, memos, requisitions, and personnel information.Oversee and assist with miscellaneous projects as directed, such as masonry work, landscaping, line location, patching roads, digging graves, clearing debris, constructing building pads, maintaining right-of-ways, or building and maintaining drains and boxes.Attend safety classes, reinforce and comply with company safety policiesWork harmoniously with ESG employees and the public and comply with ESG policies

Qualifications

Must have a high school diploma or GED and one year of college or specialized vocational training in construction, heavy equipment operation, business management or closely related field. Three years of leadership experience in sewer and water construction and maintenance, equipment operations, truck driving or manual labor. Must have a valid state driver’s license and meet minimum driving standards.  Active, state issed Wastewater Operator license preferred but not required.

Reading diagrams and schematicsThe operation of motor vehicles and equipment with specialized controls under all types of weather conditions to include back-hoe, laser, transit, quick cut saw, tapping machine, hand tools, cleaning equipment, painting equipment, lawn equipment, front end loader, dump truck, power saw and jackhammer

Ability to:

Understand and follow oral and written instructionsWork emergency duty during non-scheduled work hours

Working conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, bright and/or dim light, dust or pollen, intense noise levels, vibration, fumes or noxious odors. All required safety standards shall be adhered to in order to mitigate risk from moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, heights, blood-borne pathogens, traffic, animals and wildlife, toxic or caustic chemicals, and other identified hazards.

Physical requirements

This position requires frequent standing, kneeling, bending and climbing. The employee must be able to use hands to operate and manipulate tools and equipment. This position requires very heavy physical exertion including the ability to lift over 50 pounds and exert over 100 pounds of force on a regular basis.

The employee must be willing to work non-standard and overtime hours as required.

The position requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, and depth perception.
