**Job Description**
**Position Purpose:**
The Meter Reader / Field Service Technician is responsible for ensuring the accurate installation, maintenance, and reading of residential, commercial, and industrial water meters. This role includes investigating billing discrepancies, addressing customer concerns, and ensuring compliance with water quality standards. The technician will also perform necessary repairs, collect water samples, and maintain precise field records, all while following company safety guidelines and delivering excellent customer service.
**Primary Duties/Responsibilities:**
+ Perform the installation, removal, activation, deactivation, testing, repair, and replacement of residential, commercial, and industrial water meters.
+ Accurately read water meters and record usage data to ensure precise billing information.
+ Investigate and resolve customer billing issues by confirming meter readings and inspecting for leaks, main breaks, or other system anomalies.
+ Address customer inquiries and concerns efficiently and professionally, providing clear and accurate information to ensure customer satisfaction.
+ Complete calls and relay information as necessary, including arranging appointments with customers for field visits.
+ Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all fieldwork and report findings to the appropriate teams or management.
+ Collect water samples in compliance with water quality standards and regulations, ensuring all samples are accurately documented.
+ Adhere to all safety procedures and company policies while performing job duties.
**Work Environment:**
+ Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions, including inclement weather.
**Qualifications**
**Education/Experience/Background:**
+ High School Diploma/GED is required.
+ Previous experience in meter reading, field service, or a related technical role is preferred but not required.
**Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:**
+ Mechanical aptitude and basic troubleshooting skills.
+ Strong communication and customer service abilities.
+ Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
+ Basic computer proficiency, with the ability to learn Google-based programs.
**Required Certification/Licenses/Training:**
+ Must possess a valid state driver's license.
**Physical Requirements:**
+ Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
+ Must have the ability to climb, bend, crawl, and walk extensively.
**Additional Information**
**Pay Range:** $20.00 to $25.00 per hour.
