Job Title: Field Service Technician
Job Description

As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for coordinating projects, attending customer and vendor meetings, and handling the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery used in various industries such as automotive, aircraft, medical, and bridge construction. This role involves ensuring the optimal performance of cold, warm, and hot forging presses and related equipment.

ResponsibilitiesTroubleshoot and repair machines accurately and efficiently.Make modifications and install machines accurately.Assemble and disassemble machines effectively.Clean parts and adjacent components during repairs.Follow established tool procedures and maintain lockout/tagout protocols.Perform thorough and accurate preventative maintenance and create reports within two weeks of return.Coordinate closely with the Sales Department and Office Staff on ongoing projects.Obtain approval for purchases from the Field Service Supervisor.Suggest redesigns of accessory components and communicate with headquarters.Ensure readiness of parts and tools before projects, make travel arrangements, and prepare field service reports.Account for tools prior to leaving customer sites and organize them before returning to the shop.Utilize assembly and parts drawings accurately.Maintain precise measurement figures during projects.Complete projects accurately and thoroughly.Refer to machine drawings consistently during shop work and customer interactions.Follow up with customers post-service and document results.Communicate effectively with customers, management, and co-workers.Provide excellent customer service and manage correspondence records.Deliver or pick up merchandise to and from customers or vendors.Create and modify documents using Microsoft Office.Coordinate hotel reservations for overnight business trips.Report hotel details for emergency purposes upon arrival.Submit expense reports with receipts and field service reports promptly.Submit daily business trip reports detailing working hours, measurements, and progress.Maintain regular communication with the office while away.Develop new vendors and maintain customer relationships.Report customer inquiries and complaints to the supervisor.Essential SkillsHigh mechanical aptitude for disassembling and reassembling components.Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and low voltage DC systems.Willingness to travel at least 50% of the time.Professionalism in customer interactions.Teamwork skills in a tight-knit environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsWelding and fabrication skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.Bronze scraping skills.Exposure to Mitsubishi PLCs and experience with hot and cold forging machinery.High school diploma or equivalent.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.Energetic, organized, and team-oriented.Good judgment and flexibility to spend up to two weeks away from home.Valid driver's license and clean driving record.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

This role requires travel up to 80% of the time due to increased demand for machinery installations and servicing. When not traveling, work in a temperature-controlled facility with a team-oriented, tight-knit community. In-house work schedule is Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. You will be provided with a laptop and desk space for planning and in-house tasks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of MARION, Ohio.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $30.00/hr.
