Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Data Center Field Service Technician to join the Data Center Power and Control Division on a Remote basis, who is willing to travel 50 percent of the time. The Field Service Technician is responsible for Perform field service installations, repairs and support all installation operations.  Monitor and oversee assembly teams for the successful conclusion of the project. Diagnose and problem solve issues that arise on site and coordinate with the engineering and customer service functions to satisfy the customer needs.

 

Main Job Duties:

Install, troubleshoot, and provide routine maintenance to data center products to ensure proper function Responsible for all technical consultation and installation assistance to on-site personnel or contractor Provide customer pre-consultation, site readiness preparation, startup monitoring, assist and train installation personnelResponsible for inspecting and assembling delivered equipment and to insure proper installationInspect all operating parts to ensure proper operation within expected tolerancesDetermine causes of operating errors and take action to remedy issues and document corrective actionsInteract with internal and external project managers during field projectsOffer clear and professional interactions with customers regarding project status on a daily basis through conclusionBuild customer relationships through solution-oriented communications and service, providing on-site and remote supportNetwork with integration technicians, site owners/managers and contractors to address technical issues Maintain records of customer issues and report as necessaryDetermine tools and resources needed for projectSupport production in the factory when not travelingOther duties as assigned Qualifications

Education:

A high school diploma is required; an Associate or technical degree is preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of 3 years of relevant installation experience is required.

Experience in installation of cabinets and or containment preferred.

Experience with installations for Data Centers preferred. 

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

The ability to travel extensively within the US, particularly within the northeast (approximately 50 percent of the time) and occasionally on short notice is requiredProximity to a major airport preferredAbility to use basic hand tools, including but not limited to screw guns and ratchet sets, is requiredMust be self-motivated and self-directed and able to work independently Must have good organizational and time management skills, close attention to detail and be able to effectively handle multiple prioritiesMust have strong customer service orientation and able to work in a team-based environmentAbility to think strategically and lead execution on strategyMust possess strong analytical skills and the ability to identify trends and establish proactive corrective actionsMust have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organizationMust be an effective listener, able to extract necessary information and validate understanding of the informationStrong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Capable of lifting 45 lbs.

Salary and Benefits: $55,000 - $70,000 a year
