Field Service Technician / Service Engineer (Battery Energy Storage Systems)

The position of Field Service Engineer will be part the growing Field Service Delivery Team within the Energy Business – Energy Storage & Optimization, Lifecycle Services. The applicant should have a solid understanding of fundamental electrical engineering, project management and construction principles, as well, as experience in high power electrical systems.

We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Field Service Technician or Service Engineer – Electrical Expert in Battery Energy Storage systems. The preferred location for this position is Adelaide, South Australia.

 

The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Trade and 2+ years of experience with energy storage systems and/or renewable energy, power systems design and communication networks.

 

Your role and responsibilities:

 

As an Electrical Expert in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), you will be involved in a dynamic mix of technical and customer-focused tasks. You will perform field service activities, ensuring our battery energy storage systems operate seamlessly. This includes supporting project teams during commissioning, addressing technical issues promptly and proposing improvements to enhance product quality and reduce costs.

 

Your role will also involve maintaining strong relationships with customers through effective communication and service, preparing detailed analytical reports and acting as a technical advisor during customer meetings. You will spend at least 50% of your time on-site, directly engaging with customers and resolving issues hands-on.

 

What you will do:

You perform field service activities as per long-term service agreements. You support project teams during commissioning of battery energy storage systems. You address and report technical issues, propose product improvements. You maintain customer relationships through effective communication. You prepare and present service reports with recommendations. You act as a technical advisor in customer meetings. You write service work reports and maintain documentation.

 

Requirements for the position:

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent Electrical Trade. Valid A Grade NSW Electrical license. Preferably 2 to 4 years’ experience in battery energy storage systems, renewable energy, power systems design and communication networks. You have knowledge of LV and MV systems, EMS, battery modules, inverter technology, online platform communication systems, industrial networks and protocols, PLC and control systems, PV systems, protection relays, variable frequency drives, HVAC, fire alarm and suppression systems, advanced firewall and router programming, AS/NZS 3000:2018 electrical installations. You have experience in HV Switching Operations. You have experience in BESS or Renewable Energy installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and commissioning. You are detail-oriented, have a project management mindset, good collaboration skills, proficient in MS Office, excellent report writing and communication skills. A valid driver's license. Willingness to travel at least 70% of the time. Must be authorized to work in Australia without sponsorship
