SUMMARY
Works with the Field Service Training Managers (FSTMs) in all aspects of the technical training delivery effort. Cultivates the growth of apprentice technicians through facilitation, coaching, and feedback. This has a direct impact on maximizing retailer technical knowledge, increasing profits, minimizing Subaru of America (SOA) warranty costs, reducing buybacks and ensuring customer satisfaction (fixed right the first time) resulting in improved loyalty and retention.
Maintains communication with internal and external contacts to support retailer technician education, fosters strengthened Subaru-U engagement locally, field quality assurance, facility management and inventory and asset management.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Facilitates select instructor-led courses at area training centers (ATCs) and oversight of Skills Assessments.
+ Prepares vehicles, classroom, and lab areas for Technical Training classes.
+ Visits retailers, service managers, and Subaru-U schools in coordination with the FSTM(s) in place. Prepares for and hosts Training Planning meetings.
+ Answers questions related to class scheduling and other technical training topics (metrics, training paths, goal setting, etc.) as required.
+ Provides feedback on course quality, retailer engagement and perceived retailer value to upper-level management.
+ Builds connections between internal (SOA, vendor/supplier) and external (other brands, aftermarket, schools, associations, and boards) groups to stay current on the latest industry trends, vehicle conditions, repair methods and diagnostic information.
+ Maintains operational condition of the Area Training Center including resources, vehicles, tools, and equipment as required (cleaning, inventory, repairs, etc.) at the direction of the FSTM(s).
+ Is expected to learn from the FSTM(s) how to:
+ Perform all the above duties unsupervised.
+ Engage in professional relationships between SOA HQ and Field Operations; Subaru retailers, and Subaru-U schools.
+ Develop professional relationships among industry and community professionals and organizations to enhance Subaru’s presence in the community.
+ Introduce the Subaru brand, product, operation and technology to automotive schools via targeted training of vocational instructors annually through national vocational and ASE Educational Foundation seminars,
+ Engage in professional relationships with vendors, landlords and entities critical to the operation of an ATC.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS
+ Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree (e.g., Associate’s Degree and at least 4 years of teaching or automotive-related work experience).
+ Instructional and course evaluation skills.
+ Ability to prioritize multiple projects.
+ Strong conflict resolution and creative thinking skills.
+ Strong organization, planning, and time management skills.
+ Strong background in hands-on automotive repair and diagnosis.
+ Ability to work in a team environment.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with all internal and external contacts.
+ Ability to give and receive constructive feedback and direction to/from others.
+ Ability to operate vehicles in a shop environment and follow established safety guidelines.
+ Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record deemed acceptable by SOA Driving Record Evaluation Criteria Policy. Must be approved as an authorized driver by Risk Management to operate a company vehicle.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
+ Physical Demands:
+ Lifting up to 75 lbs. Must be able to move equipment and training aides weighing up to 400 pounds complying with appropriate OSHA lifting standards/ equipment.
+ Must maintain facilities to comply with high standards of applicable Subaru, ISO, and EPA recycling standards or laws.
+ Must be able to drive a manual transmission equipped vehicle
+ Travel Required: 40-50% Other Area Training Centers, various organizational meetings. Locally to retailers, board, association, school meetings, regional and national training events.
COMPENSATION: The recruiting base salary range for this full-time position is $70,000 – 85,000 / year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. (Internal Job Grade: P2) In addition to competitive salary, Subaru offers an amazing benefits package that includes:
