Job Description:

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is the primary quality interface between Raytheon’s organization and the external supply base.  The SQE provides both communication of requirements and performance feedback to the supplier, they are also a conduit for Quality information back to internal functions within Raytheon.  The SQE’s role includes execution of Supplier Assessments, First Article Inspection validation, Source Inspection, problem resolution, meeting facilitation and continuous improvement activities.  In addition, the SQE is a key player in the management of Supplier performance and development.  The SQE represents Raytheon professionally and is a leader supporting Raytheon Technologies Vision, Values, Strategy and Goals in the supply base.

This role is a Field Supplier Quality Engineer position.

Location Information:

This position covers an assignment as a resident Field Supplier Quality Engineer located in California. This position may include assignments to suppliers in bordering states.  In addition, this position requires commuting to supplier's facilities which may include driving and/or flying.  On average the candidate will be on supplier site(s) 3 days out of the working week.

When not commuting or flying to a supplier site the FSQE will be working remotely from home. This position does not provide relocation assistance.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

• Interpreting purchase order quality notes and quality requirements to ensure subcontractor/supplier understanding

• Ensuring flow down of Product requirements both internally and to sub-tier suppliers and ensuring compliance with quality requirements

• Assessing subcontractor/supplier quality capabilities throughout the program life cycle to achieve full program objectives

• Identifying supplier risk and systemic performance issues ensuring root-cause analysis and corrective solutions are identified and implemented with closure plans

• Driving continuous product / process improvements using statistical / analytical improvement tools such as Six Sigma and lean methodologies

• Working with and leading other Quality functions/Cross Business Teams (CBTs), to affect rapid closure of issues utilizing analytical capabilities and communications skills

• Ensuring Subcontract Data Requirements List deliverables are met

• Supports the First Article Verification and Source Inspection

Qualifications You Must Have

 • Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in  Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM).  

5 years experience in Quality Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering or General Engineering

•Experience working with one of the following Aerospace or commercial equivalent Preventative tools such as - SPC, FMEA, QFD, PPAP, APQP etc.

•Experience with Root Cause Corrective Action processes, RCCA

•Previous experience working within commercial and/or aerospace / defense regulations and standards to include one of the following- AS9100, AS9102, ISO-9000, AS9145

•Experience conducting hardware inspection

The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value:

•Six Sigma, Lean and / or American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certification (CQE, CQM/OE, CSQE, CQA, CRE, etc.)

•MS Engineering / Technical or MBA

•Proven successes in building and maintaining relationships with multiple suppliers / customers

•Experience in DoD product and process oversight including requirements, build, integration, test and delivery

•Experience working remotely

•General Statistical Process Control knowledge, including implementation

•General knowledge of aerospace / defense products and systems technologies

•General knowledge of industry technical standards (such as ANSI, CMMI, ASTM, etc.)

•Strong technical engineer with excellent communication skills that exhibits presence and influence and self-managed technical contributor

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. An active, in scope Secret clearance is a plus. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
