A Wetland's and Watercourses field surveyor specializes in the study and assessment of wetlands, rivers, streams and other water bodies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Site Assessment: Conduct field surveys to assess the condition of wetlands and watercourses, including vegetation, hydrology, soil types, and wildlife habitats.
Data Collection: Collect quantitative and qualitative data on water quality, flow rates, biodiversity, and ecological health of wetland areas and water bodies.
Mapping: Create detailed maps and reports of surveyed areas, often using GIS (Geographic Information Systems) technology to document the location and extent of wetlands and watercourses.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations regarding wetland protection and watercourse management. This may involve preparing reports for regulatory agencies.
Habitat Evaluation: Assess the ecological value of wetlands and watercourses, including their role in biodiversity conservation and flood control.
Heavy Travel 50%- 74% as this is a field position.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree from a program in Biology, Engineering, Geology, Environmental Sciences, or related discipline
Minimum of 5 years of environmental consulting/field surveying experience.
Professional experience working with Section 401/404 regulations and wetlands.
