Who We’re Looking For

Toyota’s Field Technical Operations (FTO) Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Field Systems Engineer.

The primary responsibility of this role is to develop, implement and kaizen FTO systems that support our mission to continue to digitally transform the Toyota and Lexus field organization.

Reporting to the Field Technical Operations Manager, the person in this role will support the FTO department objective to shorten the time between 1st Occurrence and 1st report by focusing on a data driven approach to Early Detection, Visualize Key Department processes, and develop innovative tools to aid with data collection.

What You’ll Be Doing

Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and high-performance applications including clear and concise HMI’s across multiple platforms, ensuring quality, security, and functionality within the Field Technical Operations Department to support EDER/department initiatives

Work closely with QST and IT to integrate software applications with existing systems and hardware, ensuring seamless data exchange and system communication

Perform detailed debugging and troubleshooting of FTO application-related issues across different environments, offering solutions to improve performance and system reliability

Stay updated with emerging technologies and trends, and actively participate in improving system architectures and development practices

Utilize data analytics tools such as Alteryx, Powerbi, etc to visualize trends and patterns using data metrics such as FTR/DPR/PQR, First Reports, GR 1-4 rank ups, etc. to communicate and prioritize emerging field issues that will allow the Field teams to quickly act on emerging issues

Leverage extensive database, app development experience and relationships with ITx contacts to support FTO in designing applications and/or when technical issues are encountered

Collaborate with Field Product Engineers (FPE) and Field Quality Engineers (FQE) to promote a data driven approach to identifying and providing information on emerging issues leading to actionable field reports (FTR/DPR/PQR)

Develop a quality-minded culture within each Region/Area by communicating Field Technical Specialist (FTS) related KPIs on an on-going basis

What You Bring

Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Automotive Engineering or Mechanical, Electrical Engineering/Technology or Computer Science

Proficiency in all T3 related systems (RTS, TAS, MIL-I, Q360, etc).

Knowledge of Quality 1 system connectors

Professional experience with Microsoft Power Platform and Altery

Hold certifications in big data analysis, Power BI, PowerApps/Mendix, Power Automate/RPA and Altreryx

Professional experience deploying low code solutions

Understanding of T3, Q360, C360 and TBDP architecture

Ability to work well with other departments inside and outside of PQ&SS

This position requires driving.  A motor vehicle record that’s acceptable by company standards is required for this position

Added Bonus If You Have

Experience as NAQ Product Engineer or Field Product Engineer

Thorough understanding of the EDER process, field organization and dealer operations

Demonstrated tact, diplomacy, and leadership skills inside and outside of PQ&SS
