I. Job Overview and General Purpose
Guided by Penn Line’s values, ethical principles, and strategic objectives, the Field Training Associate supports employee development and creates safe and positive work environments while exceeding customer expectations, by focusing on the critical foundations of safety, quality, and efficiency to optimize profitability.
II. Essential Functions
Promotes and maintains a safety culture where all incidents are preventable by serving as a role model for the safety culture, by supporting training and development, coaching, and by optimizing resources for safety and communicating safety expectations. Serves as a role model of excellent customer service by responding constructively to the needs of all those he/she interacts with daily on behalf of the organization. Works as a productive member of the crew demonstrating safe work practices, ensuring that foreman are training the crew of proper techniques used to complete the job safely and productively: Ensure that each crew understands safety program requirements. Complete crew observation report and forward to Area Supervisor and Safety teams. Complete skills audits every month, Identify and communicate skill gaps of crew. identify whether the crew members can perform activities identified on skills forms and evaluate whether foreman has completed the form properly. Become a resource for the crew to help them to eliminate skills gaps over some timeframe through teaching and one-on-one training. Conduct an investigation of accidents resulting in injury, service interruption, and/or property damage in the area and send the investigation summary to the Area Supervisor and Safety team. Complete on-site drug testing of individuals identified for testing by the HR department (randomly selected), complete post-accident drug and alcohol testing as specified in the Penn Line Drug and Alcohol Policy and as directed by the Area Supervisor, also complete any other necessary testing in the field (Reasonable suspicion, pre-employment). Complete periodic training courses in Temporary Traffic Control (Flagging) and CPR/First Aid to ensure the workforce has an adequate supply of qualified employees. Participate in annual safety training meetings by presenting topics or assisting Safety personnel. The Field Training Associate will comply with all performance initiatives and other job-related duties as assigned.
III. Minimum Qualifications:
Bilingual candidate is required Current valid driver’s license. ISA certification or relevant level of knowledge and experience preferred. Education/Experience: High school diploma, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer skills: Intermediate knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software; email and Internet browsers and other software. Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of tree industry safety standards and requirements, operational methods, mechanized strategies, and best practices. Other skills and abilities: Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong equipment troubleshooting knowledge; ability to handle confidential information; organization skills; and attention to detail. Judgement: Ability to reach logical conclusions based on established evidence. Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality. Recognizes when to elevate a decision or inform a superior about a decision. Planning and Organizing: Ability to plan and organize one’s own activities. Follow Up and Control: Ensures that directives have been understood and carried out. Adaptability: Ability to process change management initiatives effectively. Drive: Demonstrates personal accomplishment and a desire to excel; sets and maintains ambitious standards for achievement and makes things happen. Takes ownership of position. Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

Primarily, work at outdoor jobsite settings. Frequent travel required to work group locations and may be exposed to noise, heat, and dust and/or hazardous equipment or chemicals.
