Summary The incumbent will perform duties related to the receipt, intake, indexing, and scanning and/or importing of medical and administrative information into the electronic health record. Responsibilities Duties of the File Clerk include, but are not limited to the following: Performs duties related to the receipt, intake, indexing, scanning and/or importing of medical and administrative information. Maintain a daily productivity log of scanning, importing and indexing activities. Arrange records for storage/reference, schedule disposition, and retrieval. Independently performs work in conformance with all directives, regulations and policies. Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide excellent customer service. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/15/2024. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: You must possess one year of general experience. General Experience is progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates the ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of this position being filled. Examples of general experience include: working with a personal computer (PC), copying and duplicating equipment; performing duties related to the receipt, intake, indexing and scanning and/or importing information. OR, EDUCATION: You must have successfully completed at least two (2) years of education above the high school level. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One full year of full-time academic study is defied as 20 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial or technical school. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) OR, COMBINING EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-04 level. To calculate, first identify the percentage of required education you have earned (when substituting, you cannot use the first 60 semester hours that you earned). Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-04. For example, an applicant who has 9 semester hours of graduate level education (i.e.50% of graduate education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position). (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED) Typing Requirements: Must be able to type a minimum of 40 works per minute. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Communication Customer Service (Clerical/Technical) Security Technical Competence Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is mainly sedentary in nature but requires a high degree of concentration and the ability to work under pressure and stress within specified time frames. Physical demands may include: limited walking, lifting of paper documents, packing and moving boxes up to 50lbs.
