Position Summary

The Filling and Packaging Operator I is responsible for setting up and operating liquid filling and packaging lines, including equipment like scales, cappers, and inkjet coders1. They ensure quality control, perform routine mechanical adjustments, and maintain accurate production records. 

 

This position would start on 2nd shift 2pm - 10:30pm Monday - Friday. All positions are subject to shift adjustments. 

What You'll do as a Filling & Packaging Operator I: Operating manual liquid filling machine, scales, seater, capper, valves cap torquer, hoses, inkjet coding, equipment and monitoring components to the line. Monitoring all liquid filling line equipment, make hookups from different lines, routine mechanical adjustments to filling line equipment and during line change over. Performs necessary quality and inventory control data gathering and input in either written or electronic formats. Daily set up and operation of the complete filling and packaging lines consisting of the sponges, pouches, vials, caps, labels, inkjet code dater and check weights in accordance with product requirements. Notifying supervisor or other authorized personnel of the need for packaging supplies or other materials for the packaging line. Ensuring use of correct hose hookups and operating of control panels which control the flow of materials to packaging line. Meeting production schedules as outlined by supervision and for keeping written and electronic records as required. Under the direction and monitoring of department supervisor, must be capable of training a replacement if required. Responsible for setup and minor maintenance of all filling line equipment and will assist maintenance as necessary. Performing proper palletization of finished or unfinished products and storing them in an appropriate location. Exercise extreme caution in order to not damage other material or property while operating moving equipment and must at all times exercise extreme caution for the safety of other employees. Using proper filling, sealing, weighing, capping, casing labeling, and inkjet (coding of all products). Setup and adjustment of equipment when changing over various size containers on the filling lines. Adjustment of weights for various size containers on the filling lines. Turning in a written/electronic record of daily production along with other appropriate documentation as required by management. Keeping equipment and surrounding work area neat, tidy and disinfected at all times. Marking containers (Disposition Waste), such as Revital Ox and Intercept etc. as "Deposition Waste".
  The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed:

Required:

High School graduate or equivalent. Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, safety warning labels, and machine instruction manuals. Basic math, writing and data entry skills.

Preferred:

Previous experience working within chemical filling and/or liquid filling & packaging areas. Experience working with gauges, scales, auto fillers, sealers, capping, casing, labeling etc. equipment. Ability to quickly convert measurements. Familiarity and experience working in/with PPE.

Other:

May be expected to move, carry, and lift approximately 40 pounds. Good hand/eye coordination. Good peripheral vision, manual dexterity, able to read scales, dials, able to wear personal protective equipment as required. Ability to work minimal supervision, good communication and interpersonal skills.
