Finance Business Partner - Digital and Technology

About the role

This role will oversee the financial planning and investments into the highly evolving & fast growing technology areas of cloud hosting, AI software & tooling, data analytics and more. This individual will be the financial lead & partner to senior technology leaders and their leadership teams overseeing these areas and as such will ensure accurate and insightful financial reporting, that there exists an appropriate financial control environment and provide strategic and financial planning leadership. 

The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to successfully operate in a complex matrix environment with high levels of change, strong core financial skills and an analytical thinker with strong communication, influencing and interpersonal skills. 

 

Key responsibilities:

Work with senior management to translate strategic plans into operational plans that align to targets, including investment prioritisation activity. Lead the financial quantification of investments that are intended to expand & improve service offerings, support growth & profitability.  Track financial performance of investments and operational plans.  Flag and provide insight on any variance on costs or benefits. Take accountability to ensure that reported financials and financial projections are accurate, and risks and opportunities are well understood.  Work with other finance teams across the organisation to ensure alignment. Effectively utilise shared financial service resources, to deliver on stakeholder expectations and ensure no surprises. Across all locations ensure aspects of financial risk have been considered and controls are in place. Effectively articulate findings and outcomes through high quality communications and facilitate executive decision.  Provides senior management with a broader view on functional topics (non-financial) Drive to deliver exceptional performance and shift priorities as the needs of the organisation change.

 

What we are looking for: 

The ideal candidate will have an undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance, complemented by a professional accountancy qualification or substantial experience in a commercial finance role. You will bring a strong understanding of technology, with hands-on experience in cloud hosting, AI-driven software and tools, and ERP systems. 

As a trusted business partner, you will be adept at building collaborative relationships across teams, offering strategic financial insights, and driving impactful decision-making to support business growth in addition to the following:

Qualifications - External Requirements

Management experience working in a global matrix organisation and adapting through periods of change. Proven communication skills at senior levels, with a strong commercial emphasis. Track record of execution and influencing across the organisation. Experienced in analysing large & complex data sets and presenting recommendations & findings to senior management.    Strong core financial skills across opex and capex. Enjoys asking the what if and why questions.  Demonstrates integrity & delivers what is promised. Thinks creatively, using insights to improve work.

 

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. As required by the California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maryland, New York State, New York City, Washington State, and Washington DC laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:

The minimum full-time salary range is between $130,000 - $145,000.
