Role Overview

As a Finance Executive in Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) for a multinational bank, you will play a pivotal role in driving the organization’s financial strategy, providing data-driven insights, and supporting key decision-making processes. The role encompasses strategic financial planning, performance management, forecasting, and transaction support in a dynamic global environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Financial Planning:

Lead the development and management of the bank’s long-term and short-term financial plans to align with corporate objectives. Provide strategic recommendations to executive leadership to support organizational growth, cost management, and investment strategies. Integrate market trends, regulatory changes, and economic forecasts into financial plans.

 

2. Rolling Forecasts:

 Develop and maintain rolling forecasts to ensure up-to-date projections based on real-time financial performance and evolving market conditions. Collaborate with key stakeholders to adjust forecasts dynamically, incorporating updated business priorities and external factors. Drive continuous improvement of forecasting methodologies, leveraging technology and advanced analytics tools.

 

3. Performance Analysis & Reporting:

Perform variance analysis by comparing actual performance against budget, forecast, and prior periods. Deliver comprehensive financial reports and presentations to executive leadership, board members, and other stakeholders. Identify risks and opportunities across business lines, recommending corrective measures to improve financial outcomes.

 

4. Financial Modeling & Scenario Planning:

Build and maintain complex financial models to simulate multiple scenarios, evaluate potential outcomes, and assess risk exposure. Utilize scenario analysis to prepare contingency plans and guide decision-making in uncertain environments.

 

5. Business Partnering:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (business units, operations, risk, and compliance) to drive financial accountability and operational efficiency. Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership by translating financial data into actionable strategies.

 

6. Cost Optimization & Efficiency Improvement:

Identify cost-saving opportunities by analyzing expense drivers and benchmarking against industry standards. Partner with business leaders to implement process improvements and streamline operations to enhance profitability.

 

7. Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Support:

Provide financial and strategic analysis to evaluate potential M&A opportunities, including due diligence, synergy assessment, and valuation modeling. Support integration planning for acquired entities to ensure alignment with the bank’s financial goals and operational framework. Collaborate with external advisors and internal stakeholders to manage transaction risks and opportunities effectively.

 

8. Market & Regulatory Analysis:

Monitor global macroeconomic trends, geopolitical developments, and banking sector regulations to assess their financial implications. Ensure compliance with international reporting standards (e.g., IFRS, Basel III) and prepare necessary disclosures.

 

9. Advanced Data Utilization & Digital Transformation:

Leverage advanced data analytics tools, such as Power BI, Tableau, and predictive analytics, to enhance reporting and forecasting accuracy. Support the adoption of digital FP&A solutions to improve financial processes and data visualization.

 

10. Team Leadership & Mentorship (if applicable):

Supervise and mentor junior finance team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning. Lead cross-functional projects and ensure timely delivery of high-quality outputs. Skills & Competencies

Financial Expertise:

Proficiency in financial planning, forecasting, and M&A evaluation techniques.


Analytical Thinking:

Advanced skills in interpreting financial data, identifying trends, and solving complex problems.


Stakeholder Management:

Ability to present insights clearly and influence decisions at all levels of the organization.


Technological Proficiency:

Expertise in Excel, financial modeling, and FP&A tools (e.g., SAP, Hyperion, Power BI, Tableau).


M&A Knowledge:

Strong understanding of transaction structuring, due diligence, and post-merger integration processes.


Attention to Detail:

High level of accuracy in financial reporting and data interpretation.


Strategic Vision:

Ability to align financial goals with broader organizational objectives. Qualifications & Experience

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. MBA in Finance or professional certifications (CA(SA) or CFA) is highly desirable.

 

Experience:

5–10 years of experience in FP&A or related financial roles within the banking or financial services sector. Proven experience in rolling forecasts and scenario planning Track record of collaborating with senior leadership in a matrixed environment.

 

Management Experience:
